Middle Man

There were 65 cars and 5k to win at Bloomington Friday. They did this with out paying the middle man sanction fee. I hear attendance was pretty good. Why do we need the middle man? My bad. I forgot it was an mscs show still a middle man but cheaper I would imagine.

Which brings up a point I've been wondering about. What is the point of MSCS? From reading here, I gather the cars and rules are the same as USAC. Is that true? Is it simply to run races at a lower total cost to the promoter than USAC? I understand having a group that runs less expensive cars (at least in theory), but I don't understand a group that runs the same cars at a lower price.

Everybody gets to run the heats with MSCS, I'm sure that is what equates to more cars. Also no qualifying does save a little wear and tear as well.

how many mscs champions or top five in points have ever made it to the
bigger leagues. if you want to see the best of the best in non-wing sprints
it is the usac national division. the other groups can have good races too!

There was no MSCS sanction fee? Like USAC or not I know some drivers who have been injured who wished they had USAC insurance.

That maybe true but I can really care less about the Big Time so to say. I am more interested in the Health of the sport and the future of our race tracks.
Looks to me that field had plenty of HOT SHOES. Hell the B mains had a lot of Shoes.

Ins. is very important but I look at that as an individual's responsibility when it comes to racing. If folks race USAC just for the Ins..... That is like only going to church because you want to cover all angles.

I think that is in part to the "opportunity" of USAC teams. You have guys like Levi, Coons, and Darland that have been the best for years and they aren't goin to the big leagues anytime soon. There are some MSCS drivers that can compete w/ USAC guys if they have the right equipment. Does the name Hud Cone ring a bell?
