10 Years Ago at Bloomington Speedway
 

Tony Elliott recorded a commanding victory in the 11th Annual Sheldon Kinser Memorial sprint car race Friday night at the Bloomington Speedway.

"I raced with Sheldon quite a bit back when I was younger and just getting started," Elliott said. "He was a big influence on me, and he helped me quite a bit. He did a lot for me. It was nice to come here and win this Sheldon Kinser Memorial on his home track."

Elliott began to pull away from the pack with 10 laps remaining and patiently steered his car through several late traffic jams to capture the checkered flag. Tracy Hines finished second. Dave Darland, Brad Fox and Kevin Miller rounded out the top five.

In other races, Bedford's Lee Hobbs locked up the street stock championship with his sixth feature victory of the year.

Adam Sasser, also of Bedford, scored his first main event victory at Bloomington. Sasser led all 25 laps in the UMP Modified feature

wow...I'd have to go back and look at my old Hoseheads columns, but I think this was my first trip to Bloomington after moving from PA. Way cool! Brings back some good memories. :) Thanks for jumping in the time machine this afternoon, Chris.
