dirt vs. pavement chassis

Just a question. And I should know this since Ive been around sprint cars most of my life but it's been from just a spectator stand point for years now.I overheard someone the other day talking about the difference between the two and he said you couldnt possibly run a dirt chassis on pavement these days because as far a chassis goes a pavement chassis is 4-6 inches wider and a foot longer. Are they really that much bigger these days?A foot longer is quite a bit difference.I know you half to change oil pans and all that from the height difference as well as shocks, bars (torsion and radius) but I didnt realize they was that much longer. Is this truth or fiction?

Re: dirt vs. pavement chassis

Most pavement chassis are built with the engine located closer to the front axle and longer wheel base than dirt chassis.
