Which "Raceceiver" is being used?
 

A couple years ago, I tried a Raceceiver, I don't remember which model, but it was the one to have at the time, anyway, it was a flat pain in the butt, no memory, no off/on switch, battery might make it thru the night, and never really heard anything on it, that made any sense. At the time, and had for a long time, we had been using the Bearcat, 25 channel scanner, for comunication to the driver, by the scoring people, and it worked well, just a bit bulky, but at least it worked. My question is, are the ones USAC, and some other groups are using, any better than the one I tried? I would certainly hope so, by the time you got to the frequency you needed, the half life of the battery was gone. Thanks! Bob:rolleyes:

USAC does not use Raceceivers. They use a full size radio similar to what UMRA has.

From what I have been told the key to getting the Raceiver to work well is the quality of the earpiece. The earpiece that Lawrenceburg sold was in the $50-$60 range.

IIRC Lawrenceburg's frequency is 454.000. That is supposed to be the standard frequency that series and tracks use. I know it is NOT the frequency that USAC uses.

usac uses a racing electronics radio that is $275 and the earpieces are $99 i believe. the chilibowl used a raceciever that had an on/off and volume buttons and was $99 with earpieces. both radios work very well and i was actually able to use my custom molded earpieces with the raceiever which was an added bonus.

While on the subject. What tracks are requiring cars to have raceceivers this year? I know Lawrenceburg is but, what about some of the other tracks?

I know USAC is going to the raceceivers in all of its divisions this year.

USAC is going to a new raceceivers in all divisions this year. The new one has the default channel set to USAC's freq. It has a programable default channel and a few other new features.
