I'd like to thank Applebee's and Golden corral for the free dinner they offer on this day, I haven't missed many, and enjoyed all of them, always good to see old friends, and people who have the same interests, and spend a little time with them

Some parts from the USS LCI 618 log

23 Sept. SM3c Jack Templeton transferred to USS Mercy for medical treatment.
11 Oct. LCI(L) 986, dragging anchor, hit our bow. Damage sustained. SM3c Templeton received from USS Mercy
12 Nov. Following transferred to AK 117 for USA SM3c Jack Templeton.

He once told me he was tied & roped to the mast outlook high about the ship during part of a typhoon.

I lost an uncle in WWII, he was on the Juneau, with the 5 Sullivan brothers, when it was sunk by a U-boat, in the mid point of the war I have the report from the official site sent to my mother's family, he had enlisted, and was killed before he got to his first duty station, the name of the ship was used on others, and I believe now is called "The Sullivan Brothers ", it suffered the same fate as the "Indianapolis ", sank in a short time
I would have been about 6 at the time

This is a good read if you have time, there were over 600 on board and only 10 survived, it was found recently in 2.6 miles down, blown to pieces by the 2 torpedoes that hit her
