Total Money

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned here yet. Chase went through total money earned for both wing and non wing sprint cars. Very interesting data. It shows why some of these teams have decided to go wing racing.

Before I get blasted, I like both styles of sprints. But it surprised me how much more is available to the wing guys.

Why are you surprised? It's only been this way for the past 40 or so years, this is not something new.

Did he compare costs as well?

I didn't realize the gap was that wide, that's all.

The costs can't be that far off. The cars and parts are all about the same cost. The only main difference would be engine rebuilds and wings. It looks like the earning potential would offset the cost.

This website tracks both wing and wingless purse money won.

I have had a few competitive non wing teams tell me They don't race wing cars because they could not afford it.

Re: Total Money

The estimates I've heard for a night on both are about $1100 non wing and $2300 Winged. plus 10k rebuilds in less than half the races of Non Wing.

While a driver can do better if he's competitive Winged. . Most of these bigger shows have 20top guys to beat not five.
