Looks like Waynesfield will be open for a few dates anyways.. Lima always escaped me. I might have to try to make it there this year |
Re: Great Lakes Traditional Sprints - 2023 Schedule
So is this just a rebrand of MTS which didn't pay squat?

Going to be interesting to see who runs the shows outside of Michigan as most the Michigan guys don’t usually travel outside the state |
Looks like MTS got some previous BOSS race dates good to see waynesfield is racing this year

Silver Bullet did take down their "no keg beer" sign a couple years ago so you can probably bring whatever you want now. It is the ultimate Michigan track, sandy, slick, and slow. Probably be a good track for midgets or micros though.

Just curious, do you know what the payout is for a regular GLTS show ?

Re: Great Lakes Traditional Sprints - 2023 Schedule
Well, this answers how I-96 Speedway will be operating this year. The track is not dead:
BREAKING NEWS… Barry Marlow of Great Lakes Sprints will be renting I-96 Speedway for a minimum of 7 shows. The current dates and tentative classes we are working on are as follows: 4/21/23 Season Opener GLSS, Mods, Pro Stocks, 4 cylinders 5/12/23 GLSS, GLTS and Midwest Compacts 6/16/23 GLTS, Mods, Pro Stocks and GLLS 6/30/23 GLSS, Mods, TBA 7/21/23 GLTS, Mods, Pro Stocks 7/28/23 Night of Speed GLSS and Late Models 8/18/23 Mark Strpko Memorial GLSS, GLTS and Mid West Compact Tour A couple more dates could be added for other classes, but this is our plans as of right now. We will get the schedule posted online as soon as all classes are firmed up. https://www.facebook.com/GreatLakesTraditionalSprints/ |

With a few tracks still working their details out for 2023, the tour currently stands at 23 dates with action in 5 states at a minimum of 17 different venues. If the "To Be Announced" dates come through as planned, those numbers will increase to 6 states and 20 different race tracks. The standard event purses will stay the same with $2,000 to win and $300 to start the main event, however, the minimum tow bonus for full time teams has been increased from $50 to $100. So full time teams will earn $400 to start main events and $200 to start B-Main events. This is an effort to help with travel costs. Drivers who finished in the top 7 from 2022 will qualify for the additional money immediately and new teams will begin at event number 4 - if they have had perfect attendance. Teams and drivers planning to run full time should send their information in and get full details on the tow bonus incentives. https://www.facebook.com/Buckeye-Out...jqOLxEPvs&_rdr One would think the $1000 gap will more than likely close a bit from the 2020 payout for GLTS - if it hasn't already done so since last year. |
Re: Great Lakes Traditional Sprints - 2023 Schedule
The 2022 GLTS victory lane photos with winner's check indicates 1st at $1,200 for the standard show. Barry has done a nice job on working to increase the purse and the GLTS group puts on a good show for the fans.
