Can anyone assist- wanting to write to Mel Kenyon
Hi everyone,
I'm happy to have found this forum. Want to give you a bit of background I don't know much about racing, but my father has been telling me all sorts of old family stories as we've been doing our family history research. His uncle was James Randerson aka Jimmy Knight. My dad tells all kinds of stories about his dad and brothers building cars and racing but unfortunately Jims career was cut short after a racing accident. Mel Kenyon pulled him out of his burning car and saved his life. However, a couple weeks later he succumbed from infections in the burns. My dad was wondering about Mel and talking about his heroic efforts and if he was still around and I did some googling and to my best knowledge he has retired from racing and lives in Indiana. I was hoping to connect with someone who knows him personally and maybe we can send him a note/card or pass on a note to you to give to him. Whatever is easier if its even possible. We did track down Jimmys midget it was refurbished and sold at an auction, it looked great. Jims wife died last year just shy of her 100th bday. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help and I apologize if this thread goes against any rules. Elizabeth |
He lives in Lebanon Indiana and I’m sure would love to hear from you. Look up 3k racing, Mel is my favorite ol man, he loves talking the ol days and is always very forward about things. His book is also a great read.

Thanks so much everyone appreciate the info!

Mel and Don are great people. And your family should be proud of an outstanding racer. If you are a bit new to this you might not know that Mel was pulled from a burning car as well in his career

I just learned that watching Mel Kenyon's youtube interview video! Wow! I also see that he lost most of his hand in the fire... which also means he pulled out my uncle singlehandedly from his car since Mel's crash was 2 years before jimmys crash
