Usually an additional driver added to the fold means they are auditioning for the seat or one of the seats in the case. I think you could make the case that both may have been on the hot seat and the injection of JMac solidified it. Just ask Mark Kinser when Dave Blaney was brought on board with the second Allan Nott ride in '87.....

I think they made the easy decision here, but that team will need to re-evaluate their current driver situation at year end if they are willing to still fund two cars.
