Glenn Howard Memorial @ the PAS

Southern California's Steve Howard has raised more than 20k for this first race honoring his late father on November29, at the PAS. Following his amazing efforts for the Lou Vermeil Classic at Calistoga this is truly amazing. Congratulations to the hard working sprint car supporter and businessman.

I hope all goes well on Steve`s venture . Glenn was a pretty good old bird . 20 years ago when I was a misplaced racer in the USMC, he hooked me up with Bill Hicks and Jimmy Oskie to crew on a sprint car . Got to run at Ascot where even after the feature it would still suck your shoes off when you walked across it . He also didn`t care if you just dropped by his shop just to talk. He could chat while you were helping move fuel barrels or stacking tires. I figured out his ploy but it was just nice to be around racing even if it did break you out in a sweat .

Re: Glenn Howard Memorial @ the PAS

I think the 29th at the PAS will be a night I will remember and a race I look forward to goin' to.

Steve is an interesting guy. One time at the shop when I dropped a tool
on one of his glass counter tops he yelled at me...lol!

"Hey kid, what you doin', trying to break my glass case"...lol!.

Another time I saw him at Church. Boy was he surprized to see me and
boy was I surprized to see him. Steve goes to church?:O:

Now Glen, I really only talked to once or twice. I felt he welcomed me
with open arms. "Hey kid, if your goin' to get into this business let me
show you around". He allowed me to looked through the shop isles, behind the
counter and check out any part I wanted. That was really kool. I like seeing
a lot of stuff. Don't know what I want, but I know I want to buy something...lol!

He finally sold me on a tool that would allow me to hollow out bolts. Thanks
Glenn. I loved you for that one.

Another time I wanted to special order a shock. He said "come here". "come
on now, around the corner" He showed me a brand new set of custom shocks
that just came in for one the top runners at Perris. Now those were some
nice shocks and expensive. I love that he showed my what the top guns
were runin'. I knew he wasn't suppose to show me...lol!

When Glenn was at the track he would show me a new tool, I might like to purchase. I didn't buy it, but I like the idea and figured out a way to do it cheaper.
Didn't need all that fancy stuff...lol!

I always liked asking what is that picture on the wall and he would tell the story.
And whenever I bought a book from him or Steve he would show photos of either
him, his dad or their cars. I thought that was special.

Sincerely,

Larry Otani

P.S. Glenn was a nice man and Steve his is OK!:moon:
