Was surprised with the new promotional team at Terre Haute, that they are not on the schedule. Maybe they are one of the TBA dates. That time of year could draw a lot of cars.

dsc1600 11/1/21 6:22 PM

Yea would be good if one of those weekends in October had a Kokomo date.

Dirtfan 11/1/21 6:55 PM

Agreed Brent,schedules can change though.

I take it the USAC Sprints will be with them at Eldora on May 6th-7th for Let's Race Two.

So who is the new promotional team? Haven't heard anything yet or did I miss it?

OK, I'm gonna ask the obvious question: What does USAC points fund pay?

flagboy55 11/1/21 11:11 PM

Rev, I don’t know. My first thought was to say, it doesn’t matter, but that’s wrong. I think the more appropriate response is they are not comparable in expense or exposure. My only other thing to add would be I hope USAC increases theirs this year too

Does Usac give tow money or free pit passes like the Outlaws or All Stars?

Is that the first time the outlaws run the 3/8 Tri City?

Re: World Of Outlaws Sprint Car Series - 2022 Schedule. POST

This story refers to it as a 3/8ths track; but it didn't 100% say thats what it WAS in 2008. I think it was a 3/8ths that year. I'm very certain it was switched closer to the mid-part of that decade.

treecitytornado 11/2/21 10:59 PM

Not sure what 13th is going to pay in 2021, but ultimately Bill Rose hasn't turned a wheel all season & would end up with $25,000 if it was 2022!!! I like Bill as a person, but this isn't right!!

ThrowbackRacingTeam 11/2/21 11:27 PM

Glad to see the In-laws aren’t booked in Indiana. No wings needed here.

They ran there when Revin Kevin first built the 3/8th mile track. June 2007 and 2008 I believe. He changed the size after 2006 season and finished right before 2007 season.

Your reading comprehension must not be up to snuff…. Look at April 23 & may 30…
Both will be the best paying & well attended sprint races all year.

While I will agree these events will be very well attended. I believe both the Little 500 and the Smackdown will pay more.

Not to be argumentative, but both Haubstadt and Lawrenceburg have USAC races that pay the same amount to win as a WoO race.

I was at Haubstadt just a few weeks ago for the Harvest Classic and there's no way I'd believe that more people could cram into that place when the Outlaws show up, and with Lawrenceburg being my home track (15 minutes away), I can assure you that the crowds are very comparable whether it's a USAC race or WoO's yearly visit.

But I suppose you are correct, both events will be among "the best paying & well attended sprint races all year". And that's a great thing for these tracks we love.

Yes it is. I’m happy to see a good crowd at any race.
As for the purse and coming from a former car owner/driver my comment was meant towards the whole purse where the outlaws are probably twice what any other sanction pays

dsc1600 11/4/21 11:00 AM

Yea it might pay the same to win, but it doesn’t pay the same for 5th or 10th.

Having said that, there’s no doubt the outlaws draw well in Indiana because of the novelty, non-winged sprints are still king by a mile in Indiana.

I have a question for you guys who follow wing racing more than I do. With Eldora and Knoxville seeming to try and top the other with the King's Royal and Nationals. With Eldora adding another huge payout, do you see a day when it tops Knoxville as the biggest race, or do you think it just adds another big event?

Just another big race. Knoxville has the history and pays much more back thru the field.

You could be right about the little 500. What is the total purse? I think the outlaws are right around $50k for their regular $10K to win show.

I think the Little 500 pays $25,000 to win. Not sure what it pays to start, but know its decent. With 33 cars that adds up pretty quick. Smackdown pays $1500 to win, $1500 to start. Last I knew an Outlaw race paid $10,000 to win and $1000 to start for a one night show. The highest paying of any series, but not the highest paying in the state. In fact, the All Stars paid $26,000 to win at an Indiana race last year.

While the statement about Smackdown paying the largest purse might be accurate(as I don't have the purse payout total available, my best estimate is its about $57,000) the logic is flawed. Smackdown is a 3 day event with a bonus race the night before. Its also one of the crown jewels of the USAC season. The Outlaws race for $50,800 every night as standard purse in 2021.

Its tough to compare these as they aren't apples to apples comparison. You would need to compare Smackdown to Knoxville($604K, A Main only), The Kings Royal($312.7K) or The National Open($155.9K) to have a relatively fair comparison and we know from a $$$$'s perspective there is no comparison. Its roughly 3x, 6x and 12x when it comes to payout

The outlaws also get $30 to $40 for general admission and people pay it. I think they are a sub-par show compared to USAC. I keep going a few times a year to woo and usually, not always I am disappointed in their show. One lap dashes and zip passes. Faster than fast but not a lot of close battles. Maybe because of the speed.

I am hoping they will compliment each other so we can watch both. Any non-wing fan who will care to not watch a wing race and any wing fan that will care to not watch a non-wing race is a LOSER!

Can't we all just get along?

Double eye poke received, Moe!

If I may wave my flat, parallel to the ground hand in front of your face and up.... up.... as you watch it, then QUICKLY down as your head snaps low..... n'yuck n'yuck n'yuck....

....I am stuck in this political two party world - right and left.

I guess where I was trying to go, but didn't quite make it there was:

Everyone on here is an open wheel fan. Whether wing or non-wing. That might be an ongoing comical banter amongst the members, but we are all bound in dirt open wheel front engine motorsports.

A "Loser" Racerfan20, is one who really rejects the opportunity to "enjoy" the other side of the fence and what goes on there.

As the majority of the forum is non-wing, do not turn your back on a good wing event. And vice versa. <-- That is Latin for don't miss your opportunity.

I close with an arm held out and a fist. Hit the top of it. Wherever it comes back around after a 360 degrees swing, so be it.

I love sprintcars. No doubt my absolute favorite form of motorsports is traditional, non-winged sprintcar racing. However, if every sprintcar in the world had a wing, I would still be a fan.
