#GYATK Challenge
If you've not been following along with Twitter or Facebook, some people have gotten together to honor Bryan Clauson and his passion for Kokomo Speedway.
What started out with announcers Brett and Rob, Blake Anderson, and Dillon Welch, now has even more people involved. On August 24, the Wednesday Night of smackdown, there will be an award paid out to the highest finishing driver MAKING THEIR DEBUT in a non wing car at Kokomo speedway. It started out as $500 and as of a few minutes ago on Twitter, is now at least $750! Kudos to Rob, Brett, Blake, and Dillon for a fantastic idea! Can't wait to see everybody there! #GYATK #BCforever |
I heard it's up to a grand now. Saw it on Twitter
|
$250 (and growing) to the 2nd highest finishing first timer.
3rd highest place finisher by a first timer gets a new RR donated by Jason Keefer. |
Latest update is:
$1000 highest finishing "first timer" $500 2nd highest finishing "first timer" New RR to 3rd highest finishing "first timer" Hard charger "first timer". Goal is $630 Make sure you read Tim Clauson's What you can do thread! |

Re: #GYATK Challenge
What is the tire rule, not sure I have tires to run. All I have are some right rear Hoosiers and the rest are American Racer. If it is a RR Rule I can probably figure it out if it all 4 I'm most likely not going to be able to figure it out.
|
I would clarify w/ Kokomo Speedways office but my understanding is "first time" means never before having ran a non wing sprint car event @ Kokomo.
If I remember correctly, Kokomo is one of the tracks that goes by USAC's tire rule. I'm looking it up on their page. I'm just a fan trying to move information but still want to be precise. :) Please, anybody correct me if this is wrong. |
For 8/24
RR - Hoosier Med or AR mc3 Other 3 corners are open. #GYATK4BC |

Re: #GYATK Challenge
So, as a race fan that cannot get off of work for Wednesday's event, but would hate to miss the spectacle that I'm certain it will be, I would love if there was some way to get a live stream of the race. I know those kinds of things take time, money, and resources, but it's an idea!
|
Will there be extra seating? As I can imagine this is going to be a huge fan base event.

Re: #GYATK Challenge
I think a live stream would be a great idea if there are people able to put it together in such a short amount of time. The WoO Sprints have a gap between their 8/21 show in WI and their 8/26 show in ND. Maybe they can work something out with DirtVision.

After durometering all 3 compounds
Medium was 48 avg. Mc2 48 And mc3 53 *note mc3 was 1 race old, other 2 were new and all unmounted with longacre. Just for information I appreciate kokomo giving the American racer guys a chance to use their tires |
I have always been told a MC2 was about the same as a medium.
A lot more teams will have a 2 versus a 3. |

Mc2 was 52 Medium was 52 So I would say you are correct. |

Re: #GYATK Challenge
Thecushion.com will stream the BC Celebration at 1pm Weds FREE it will also stream Wed's night show for FREE starting at race time.
I feel this is a very good move as Im concerned about actual capacity. Yet I will probably make weds show. The Cushion will also cover the three USAC nights of the Smackdown for PPV. Visit their site for details and thank them. This is one of the few times I would really like to know a attendance both at the track and streaming viewing, while realizing there will be many more that can't either make it or watch due to work-school for the service. Nonetheless. Thanks THE CUSHION and Kokomo! |
Re: #GYATK Challenge
One of the things that helped make Bryan Clauson a sure bet for the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, National Midget Hall of Fame and USAC Hall of Fame by the time he reached his middle 20's, is that he was such a excellent qualifier. He was as great as anyone I can ever remember, at this and almost always secured himself a good starting position for the race that pays. Wednesday they will be doing group qualifying for this event. I have $200 for the driver that turns the fastest overall lap in group qualifying. As Brent Bowman suggested in an email, I will take this and give it to the gift shop when I get there on Wednesday. I challenge any IOW members who want to add to this, to stop into the gift shop and do so.
