You lucky stiffs in Illinois
You get the UMP Summernationals, and the USAC National midgets on the same card tonight.
Color me jealous. |
I'd say the folks at Haubstadt might be equally lucky. Either way I'm with you Chris. Everyone have a great race day!

It's good to have choices. #merica

"You lucky stiffs in Illinois"...... Boy, you don't hear THAT term very often! :D
|
For once, both states have it going on this weekend. We chose to head west to IL this weekend but I agree that IN has a badass lineup for the weekend too.
|
Hell with it. No more jealousy I'm just going to hit the road! Lincoln Illinois, I'll see you in about 3 hours. Hopefully see some of you too

Almost there. If you see a guy with a red wings hat and a green tee shirt, it's probably me, say hi.

Re: You lucky stiffs in Illinois
Well in Michigan with a long 4th weekend. Best the state could do was a pavement race with 12 cars and one dirt race with 15

Macon and Lincoln both put on fantastic midget shows. Elows up both nights

M/C, I wasn't at Macon, but I can whole heartedly agree with you about Lincoln. Sure glad I went. Cool little place. A bunch of sliders and a real tricky cushion up by the fence. After what I saw the race I got to at Indiana midget week, and last night at Lincoln, I say midget racing is alive and well. People rag that the big teams ruin it, but I say they've made everyone else pick up their game. As a fan, when I go to a USAC midget race,I want to see the best of the best, and that's what it provides. Sure glad Lynch and Boat were ok. I don't think I've ever seen a flip travel that far. Like Buckley says, you don't want to see a crash but you don't want to miss one either. Testament to the safety built into the cars and equipment these days. I was hoping to run into some IOW'S but with the crowd, that was huge, it was tough to do. And I didn't see an ice cream stand, so didn't know where to look for Wildman92

Re: You lucky stiffs in Illinois
Wildman 92 hopes and plans to hit the local DQ in Lincoln before closing was dashed by the running of late models:14:

We were VERY disappointed in the spectator turnout at Mighty Macon. It's been over a decade since we have been treated to USAC midget racing here in Central Illinois. If we want top quality racing, and Macon was just that, we very much need to support it much better than what we saw at Macon. If not for the mud cabs at Lincoln I fear it may have been somewhat similar. However, I think there were some late model diehards very impressed with the USAC boys at Lincoln!

We're lucky on the East Coast too. Tonite we get to see if Kyle Larson can make it 3 in a row vs. Pa. Posse tonite at Grandview. Then on to ISW for me...
I thoroughly enjoyed POWRi midgets in Belleville last fall.... we're all lucky Happy 4th & be safe! No drinking & driving, please.... |
