MSCS @ The Burg Admission Price?

Was just at Tri-State Sat. for the MSCS race and admission was $20, why the $3 difference at The Burg ($23)?? Not that I really care I will be there anyway, but was just wondering. Seems the price would be the same for the same sanctioned cars. However that $3 could buy an extra cheeseburger!!! Bob Bressert :thumb

Inflation has not hit the part of the country in the CDT zone as much as EDT zone area. Therefore, your ticket will cost more at the 'burg.:O:

All kidding aside, I think is is pretty much the promoter's call on that. Some want a little more of your money than others to pay that $10K to win purse. I'm like you, I might go anyway, but then again that's getting pretty close to my limit, especially considering all the money that I blew on racing this past weekend. The wallet is a little thin.:(

It's these big millionaire Wall Street race promotors gouging us poor little guys for our last three dollars. Looks like the kids ain't eatin' this weekend cuz I'm goin' to the races!!!! LOL

Yes, general admission is $23 for adults, pit pass $30
Its a $10,000 to win show, with the best sprint cars in the country competing!!
I'd pay $50 or more to see this show!!

Sounds to me like The Burgs promoters have a new boat payment coming up soon.

What is wrong with $23 for 10K

We just put on a $20,000 to win show at Brownstown a couple of weeks ago and charged $30, to where we had a packed house.

With the types of purses the promoters put on, these prices are necessary.

Re: MSCS @ The Burg Admission Price?

If you don't like the admission price stay home. I for one look forward to this race all year long. Glad to see the GA go up instead of the back gate. Maybe you can get a $3 coupon off general admission if you lose more than $250 across the street.

Talk to Mr Rudisell about how much of an a$$beating he's taken money-wise this year. I have had talks with the man.... and he is a straight-shooter when you ask him questions. Ask him in person how this year has went as a promoter. When your construction company and mother nature kick your butt and you can't start your season till June, you cant expect to make money!

Like Chris said.... the late models have some high purses and have higher gates. World of Outlaws is a testament to that as well. 25 bucks at Eldora for ONE class, the show, and its the usual racing. $23 and you are going to have better racing.

bigq11 9/29/08 5:26 PM

Re: MSCS @ The Burg Admission Price?

It must be the same $3.00 Lawrenceburg has been extracting from us all season. It is $15.00 for a regular show at the Burg and $12.00 or less at most all other local tracks.

Regarding the back side parking and having a cooler as mentioned above, you can have a cooler in all the seating areas. However, you can't bring your own beer into any area, including the back stretch area.

I would pay 30 bucks to see that race. Quit complainig it will be a great time and I will be there supporting Dave a great promoter. Winchester could take some lessons from Dave how to treat people who spend there money at there track..

:crying::crying:
So your saying that the paying customer/fan is there to make up for any construction or weather problems that cost the promoter money in any given year. What's next, charging for rainouts.

If all of them seats were full for the Fall Classic (@ $25.00 ea.), which is why the Mayor had 'em built in the first place, Dave could have retired after that one race.:wink

ps. I don't really think $23.00 is that out of line for this show.

Re: MSCS @ The Burg Admission Price?

I don't find $23 that out of line for show with a bigger purse. I have grown to accept that $20+ is the norm for sanctioned shows or shows with a big purse.

For sticker shock how about the email I go for the DTWC Late model event at KC speedway. Advance tickets are $40. Day of show is $50.

Regardless of the price, you always have the the choice to vote with your wallet. If it is too much, don't go.

Re: MSCS @ The Burg Admission Price?

I totally understand that the DTWC has a huge payout. I also was amazed at the ticket price. It floors me how expensive some of the tickets are for the lates and they can do it because the fans will attend the races. I was using it as an example of how high tickets can get.

WHile I would like to see the DTWC, it is not worth $40 or $50 to me. As a result, I will hold my money and move on down the road. This is an example of where I vote with my wallet.

Chris Nunn 9/29/08 7:13 PM

Re: MSCS @ The Burg Admission Price?

Unfortunately they would go under if they charged any less.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont situation for promoters

You cant really say anything bad about ticket prices for Lates when people pay $20 for a $5,000 to win sprint car show featuring 80 percent of the drivers you can see at a regular show anywhere in Indiana.

I wouldnt want to promote a race ever

Charles Nungester 9/29/08 7:31 PM

Re: MSCS @ The Burg Admission Price?

He, Im contriversial but what the hay?

23.00 IMHO for fifty cars and 10 grand to win with most of the best available there. Shoot, A WoO show your lucky if there are five teams that legitamately have a shot to win. I bet the entire feature of this show and half the consi are multi time winners, track champions, former USAC champions and MSCS champions.

The WoO cost 35-45 dollars at any smaller venue. Sorry unless it's local. Im not going yeah it was NST but I paid 50.00 to watch a grader parade, a rough track and only 24 cars. Oh wait, that was Allison, Nevermind.

Chuck, who wouldn't mind a 20.00 weekly show and 3 grand to win 300 to start.

Just noticed on the 'burg website thier is a tv commercial about the MSCS show. It looks good so I'm thinking the extra $ 3.00 is for the commercial. Oh well, I wouldn't miss this show for $3.00 or $8.00 depending on how you look at it..

Re: MSCS @ The Burg Admission Price?

Now everyone wait just a second to think about something here..........how many of the people complaining about a three dollar ticket increase are going to the chili bowl next yr.
because your all going to not wanna go if you cant handle 23$ to go to a world class facility, to see what i consider world class drivers. . chili bowl tickets are 211$ for 5 days. 185 $ for four days. nearest i can figure thats way more per day than the 23 dollar asking price to get in at lawrenceburg. in fact its more than double. so everyone go enjoy some awesome racing, or save your money and go sit outside the expo center in january and wait for some cheap seats, and freeze your rear ends off. as for me ill be where the non wing sprint cars are this weekend! at the burg. We have commercials playing from Chicago to Kentucky, and from Northern Ohio to western Indiana. Folks, its all a huge gamble when you have a race, some of you will never get it. We have had some big shows this year with big losses, and we have had some shows with little gain. If i was a driver/owner of a sprint car i would be offended that people are complaining about $23. The amount of money and time these teams put into thier cars, and then they go out there and put thier life at risk. and you are saying that $23 is not worth it. Believe me, I am not getting rich off of anyone. If anything i am going broke. Maybe just maybe we will have a good crowd this weekend and make a dime. But as a promotor you have always got everything working against you.
How many people on this board get a paycheck every week? Try being a promotor and maybe you will get paid this week maybe you won't, you may go 2 months without a paycheck, or you might just have all the stars align and make enough money to get you through a couple weeks. Cecil98 made so much money promoting Lawrenceburg he only did it a few years and retired to his multi-million dollar island home in Florida:rolling. Mel Johnson had the track for umpteen years and now he is retired to being a track prep crew for me. Ask Jiggs how many millions he is retiring on........I would bet the farm its not much.
Bottomline we promotors do this week in and week out for the love of racing, Just like when i raced, I won about everything and still lost thousands of $$$. I raced because i love to race, and now i promote because i love to entertain people.
Some people just take the love out of me from time to time because all of their bitchin. Luckily, the complaments outweigh the complaints.
Thanks for letting me vent.
And to all the great fans, drivers and crews who support the Lawrenceburg Speedway, I SAY THANK YOU!!!
Sincerely, Dave Rudisell

My thoughts are this, a couple of weeks ago I started a thread concerning the admission price for this Saturday. The responses can be found in the thread I started.

As for this one, well here I go,will I be there, damn right. Do I give a chit what someone else charged for a late model or whatever tin top race wherever, I don't think so.MEDIA PEOPLE get in free I have heard, so why would they have a concern:headbang Like someone else said, don't like it, can't afford it, stay your a$$ at home.:shout

Dan, I dont get in free

And if i could be there, I would.

I was comparing admissions to payouts , its not my fault that Late models are more popular and get better payouts ;)

Well like many others here, I will be making the trip regardless of the price. it is not very often you get to see all the great non-wing sprint car drivers race at one of the nicest venues around. I made the trip to the burg for their opening night and I will continue to support this track every chance I get.

I paid $23 for my reserved seats @ Haubstadt. Those seats are similar to all the seats @ The Burg. When the year is over, I'll look back at both and consider each money well spent.
