Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
Shawn, Teegarden told me yesterday, he had read in his RV paper, that there was going to be a truck show at Greensburg, Friday, and Saturday, so if anyone is interested, and it is a fact, they could come early, and look over the trucks on display, then stick around for the races. Bob

I find it interesting that you are having a race in Greensburg. The UMRA is racing at Mt. Lawn, yet the UMRA race is being sponsored by Decatur County Tourism.
I just find it a little odd, that Decatur County Tourism would spend their money, outside of their county, while a "similar" event is being held smack, dab in the middle of Decatur County. |
Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt - Saturday Night, September 27th...
You can find it insteresting, or however you would like, but the fact is that UMRA hasn't done anything like this until they've had some competitition, period. In my opinion, it's too late. They can get whatever sponsor they would like, that's fine, it's honestly good for the sport to have sponsors. I don't find it odd by any stretch of the imagination. It's like having Big O Tires of Rushville sponsoring a race, since they all run American Racer or Hoosier. It doesn't matter, it's money towards the sport.
If someone from another county would like to sponsor a race in another county, it's their choice. UMRA can try all they would like, but you can't tell me that they are not trying things now that they've not tired before. They are trying anything to prevent the new series from doing well, or even giving it a chance. I highly doubt the tourism department went after UMRA to sponsor their event in Henry County. So, with all of this being said, it's a free bump to the top! :thumb |

Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
tqs are neat to watch at greensburg but going to vernon to watch the sprint cars. let me know when greensburg gets some bank on it and the got some racing there. never went to a ics race there no way they can go to wide comfortably there.

Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
I don't think a sponsorship from a tourism group outside of its county sounds that odd. How many people in Henry County really think about taking the short drive to Greensburg, Millhousen or the other Decatur County communities?
Good luck to both groups this weekend. I hope each has great car counts, fantastic races and many happy fans at the end of the evening. Jim Morrison |

Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
There were 17 cars tonight with 14 starting the feature. THey ran six heats and the feature. The first 3 split the field by qualifying times. The first heat were the slow guys, the second were the middle qualifiers and the last were the fast cars. They had 3 more heats with a normal distribution of cars.
Now some observations. I think they should have altered the heats slightly. THey should have run the normal heats first and then run a second set based on the results of the first heats. The second set of heats should have set the lineup for the feature. This might have made the double heats mean something. THey also ran ten lap heats. I really have never been a ten lap heat fan. The heats should have been 8, but that is my opinion. All in all, I enjoyed the show and made it back to Columbus, O by 11:15 after busting out of G-Burg at 8:30. |

Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
Good night of racing. Track was in good shape. Good number of cars and alot of talent! Congrats to Collin Ambrose on his win all the way from KY! Glad to see him make the long drive to come race. He was very fast and drove a great race. Willis pulled up beside him but Ambrose was able to hang on to the lead. Martz gave it all he had in the other Ambrose car driving hard and was good to see him back in a TQ and also picking up the trophy dash win. I think it's safe to say Speidel is back to his old on the gas driving style after his sprintcar injuries. Mann also looked strong the first half of the feature and looked like a strong contender. Was good to see Nichols there and back in a TQ. Was a good feature with alot of good racing and a great battle up front between Ambrose and Jason Willis. Ran each other clean and showed alot of respect. Willis looked like he had something for Ambrose but fell just short. Keep it up and this league will continue to grow. The fans liked the interviews.

The burg crew was great as was the track. It was also nice to see Chad annoucing at the Battle of the TQ's . :checkered: Chris Mann

Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
I would just like to say that it was a very fun night. We havn't had that much fun racing our TQ's in a long time. It was nice not to have anyone ******** or whinning or causing a lot of drama during and after the show was over. That's how racing is supposed to be!!!!!!!!

Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
just curious how many mini sprints were there and if the mini sprint won?

Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
No Mini-Sprints, altho they were invited. Nice turn out for a quickly put together show, thanks to Jennifer and Mark for their enthusiasum, all the "volunteers", also a round of thank you's, for all the help that came to help Kyle and I get a front axle changed, so we could continue, we were short of help because of harvesting time for Kyle and his Dad, I was lucky to have Kyle there. Thanks to the Lawrenceburg crew for their help, the "hill" had a fair number, and were treated to a lot of good racing, three wide at times, and I think everyone had a good time, we even had Porta-Johns in the pits, and a concession stand on wheels. Hope everyone had as much fun as Kyle and I did. Kudos to everyone who pitched in to make this a fun evening. Bob

i asked on here if the mini sprints were gonna run up there with the tq's last saturday and the guy who was putting on the races posted on here that there was not going to be any support class that night ..we were planning on bringing a car up and i am sure that there would have been alot more because there was no tracks around here running them last saturday |
Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
Don't take that for gospel, that was only my interpretation, I have been "incorrect", at least once, that I can remember, in my 71 years on this planet. Sorry if I made a "hasty" reply. Bob

Re: Battle of the TQs: Indiana Dirt Sat. Sept. 27 Greensburg
You are right. We did not have mini sprints because it was our first race and I wanted to keep this race as simple as possible. There's a group of Illinois TQs that were invited but had end of year car troubles and couldn't make the race. That may be the group Bob is referring. We were contacted by a mini sprint series but couldn't organize it in such a short amount of time. I do plan on getting together with those groups over the winter months.
We put this together in a short amount of time and there were a lot of things we wanted to do but couldn't due to time constraints. I'm very proud of everyone. A lot of people came together and helped out for a great night of racing. My daughters, who would rather clean their rooms than go racing, had a fabulous time and are begging to do another race. LOL I'm going to be on the Racin with D. O. show tonight... I hope you all can tune in.:dologob: Originally Posted by 1021gpa: |

Yep. Congratulations, Kenny. 16.665 sets the track record.
