Tulsa restaurants
Looking to find some "hidden gems" for food in Tulsa during the Chili Bowl. Figured it was time to start the thread. Of course you always have Rib Crib, Burn Co., Tally's, Jimmy's Egg, etc. This is my 24th consecutive Chili Bowl and always looking for something new while in Tulsa for the week.

Tally's is a great place.

Western Diner is very
good as well. I usually go there a couple of times during CB. Best Regards, John |
Village Inn has some
great breakfast selections. I always get Eggs Benedict. My favorite. Best Regards, John |

Re: Tulsa restaurants
Not really a restaurant but there is an awesome smoothie place right down the road from the expo in the same parking lot as McAllister's. I can't recall what the name of it is but it produces some good smoothies! Always try and stop in there a few times during the week.

Freddy's Hamburgers, 9130 E. 11th for a little Route 66 charm. And really good burgers & fries. (This is NOT Freddy's Frozen Custard.)

Re: Tulsa restaurants
Jimmy Hula's on the east side of Yale just north of Twenty-first is new since last year. It is managed by a race fan. He even convinced the owner that pit passes were necessary for the Shootout last week so they could deliver to the track. Had their delivery once and it was very good. They also had specials for the race fans with tickets or pit passes. They serve fish tacos, gourmet burgers, tropical libations and beer. I really enjoyed the Shrimp Po' Boy.

Re: Tulsa restaurants
When I get to go to Tulsa we stay at the Wyndham on 41st. Across the street there is a breakfast joint called Kimmy's... great way to start the day. I usually try a few different places for lunch, always hit Wataburger at least twice on a 4 day trip since we dont have them in my part of the country. Every night after the races is a stop at the taco truck in the gas station parking lot next door to the hotel. Best tacos I have ever had!

It does, Kenny, and I'm still embarrassed! Haha!

Re: Tulsa restaurants
I try to search out the old school places while in Tulsa. So far Brownie's Hamburger Stand, El Rancho Grande, Hank's Hamburgers, & Ollie's Station fits that bill. My favorite restaurant, but not of the old school flavor, is Smoke on Cherry Street. It's a cool place with great food, good for lunch & dinner. One steakhouse I've wanted to try is the Bull in the Alley, but I'd say it's an evening place, which of course is reserved for racing.
