pay per view
Was thinking of buying the turkey night race on PPV. I have never done it before and wondered what needs to be done to play it on my TV, and do I need any special equipment. I recently saw some of a hockey game that was streaming and the video was choppy, and really not worth watching. How's the quality of the racing streams? I went on loudpedal and didn't really find any instructions. Any help and tips for doing this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re: pay per view
Online pay per view's are getting better and better and when it all comes together right, they are totally worth it. If you have a good internet connection (strong wireless works, wired is better), a modern browser, and decent computer or laptop then chances are you'll be happy. To get it onto your TV the only step left is a getting an hdmi cable from the computer to the screen.
Sometimes even when you have it all setup right, and the broadcaster has done everything right, there still can be issues that make it un-fun. Bad internet at the track, weather, or other unforeseen things just happen. This is a new media, so hiccups happen, but it sure has resulted in a lot more people getting to see more dirt racing - so people (I guess I can only speak for me) put up with the occasional whoopses. |

I have had good experience with the turkey night race. I have bought it the last few years. Planning on it again. My TV has a monitor in and an audio in so I bought a monitor to monitor cable for the video and a male to male headphone cable to get the sound to the TV. Basically it makes my TV a second monitor and I drag the video window over to it. Got these cables for a few bucks on the internet. HDMI sounds better quality though. Maybe your local electronics store can set you up with the right stuff for your system.

Re: pay per view
Did both the western world and ovals all nights with these guys and any issues I had were most likely on my end and those were few and far between.
Get a HDMI cable to the TV and its better than a lot of national sports media IMHO. Just wonder if they're going to have that yelling Ventura Announcer on the live feed. Id like a answer to that before I order. |
Re: pay per view
Is Jim Naylor still announcing at Ventura, along with being the Promoter and Grader Operator? I raced and/or spectated there for 30 years and never found him to be annoying; all things considered he's one of the best things that ever happened to SoCal Open Wheel Racing (along with everybody at the PAS) since the demise of Ascot...

Re: pay per view
I use a Google Chromecast ($35). It is a HDMI stick that plugs into your TV. You can then wirelessly cast whatever is on your computer screen to the TV. The quality is great and it's very convenient.

Re: pay per view
Western World and Oval Nationals were covered by Speed Shift TV. Is that the same crew that does Loudpedal ?
|
I stream it with my home wifi on my iphone or ipad and use apple tv box to put it on the tv via hdmi, works great!
|
I want to once again thank all of you for your input. I do have a firestick that I have watched movies on so would that do?

Re: pay per view
I like Charles watched the Western both nights and all three nights of the Oval Nationals with Speed shift TV and was really pleased , The Turkey night is with Loud Petal I have never had a live show with them But if they are as good as their DVD"s we"ll be in for a treat :6:

Re: pay per view
I was watching hot laps and tried to get on twitter and now no site at all. I wish usac would get with a live stream group and stay with them. I have been paying loudpedal per month since they started. on this deal we had to create a new account? speedshift I think has been the best but they are little expensive. you usually get what you pay for. I would rather be there live if I could. looks like a beautiful place by the ocean.

Re: pay per view
Its a shame or sham, maybe both that I get hundreds of tv channels but most all the racing on them is bad or at the very least no interest to nonwing fans.
Case in point is I can watch speedway ice racing from the frozen wastelands of Russia but I cant watch any speedway world championship races. Thing is Speedway ice racing isn't even real speedway, its basically the equivalent of winged sprintcars, nothin sideways here to see. I can also see all manners of "sprintcar" racing as long as there are no wings, with the occasional 30 minute midget race or usac sprint race on dirty 30. I'm mellowing a lot and I have no problem with our winged brothers I just wish we had some options. |
Re: pay per view
Just want to thank Loudpedal for salvaging what could have been a bust. Didn't miss any racing, just sprint hotlaps and qualifications.
I sometimes get a little upset if Im not getting what I pay for and say things I shouldn't, Without realizing that they are as upset as anyone. Like I would be if something I was doing for someone turned out sub par It was funny hearing the announcer complain about the cold. We've hit mid to low 20s the past few nights. I think they were at 45* :) Anyway, Thanks for the hard work and getting it on. Look forward to tonight an no problems after a big dinner with family. |
Re: pay per view
Hi Charles
IT FEELS REALLY COLD ANYTIME YOU ATTEND A RACE AT VENTURA including many races in the summer. The damp weather with the wind off the beach is much colder than what the temp says it is. I told the announcer Chase (fellow Iracer) to bring warm clothes. Even though it might be mid 70's at ventura today, IT WILL BE REALLY COLD TONIGHT. Wished I didn't live close to ventura for one time in my life, would love to purchase PPV, but have to stay home prepping for a surgery. Can't take the chance of getting sick or anything. I'm sure the racing will be awesome, but expect some track prep and too much action at times. But it nice to see all the cars this year, and you can tell how proud the promoter, Jim Naylor is to have such a respected event. No one loves racing more than Jim, and I'm proud to say Ventura is my home track since the mid 70's when the track was only big enuf for tq'a. some would say it's still only big enuf for tq's ;). But I just love seeing sprint cars on a tiny track, but also enjoyed seeing USAC sprints at PAS for the ovals. I wished somehow USAC could schedule a national USAC Sprint Car show at Ventura one year, maybe have a usac west 360 show on Friday and than a 410 show on Sunday. Hell why not have Turkey Night next year on Thursday for midgets, USAC 360 on Friday and than the usac 410 On Saturday. Too much pain meds, need to stop writing. happy thanksgiving to everyone. I'm jealous of those that get to attend or watch tonight's races, next year I will be there :) cheers |
