POWRI midgets at Belle-Clair?

Right now I'm in a holding pattern at my friend's place in Ohio. Was planning on driving back to Pa. for Outlaws/Posse clash at Williams Grove, before driving back home to Colorado. But looks like it could be a rainout...
Plan B: Weather looks nice for upcoming weekend in Illinois, considering POWRI midget race at Belle Clair Speedway. Its on the way home, would save me several hundred miles of driving...
What do people think? Good car count? Good racing?
Actually, thats Plan C. I was considering Lawrenceburg USAC, but looks like that might be rain also.....:14:

Kellen Conover 9/26/16 8:05 PM

Car count will be good, racing will be better. Belle Clair never fails to deliver.

The racing this weekend at Belleville will be great as always and it looks like there will be a lot of cars. I've had quite a few people contact me that are coming in addition to all the regulars.

If you're from Colorado and you know Lakeside, picture Lakeside in dirt and you have BelleClaire. Fantastic bullring!

I was living in the mountains when Lakeside was running midgets, used to see ads in the paper but never went. I could kick myself!

Re: POWRI midgets at Belle-Clair?

Well I broke a tooth last nite, headed back to Denver to see dentist. If the timing works out, might see midgets in Illinois

Looks like summer might be officially over for this "12 year old with a car stuck in 66 yr. old body"
Our bodies eventually betray us, don't they?

Thanks for all your input, guys!

Re: POWRI midgets at Belle-Clair?

Is it a full show each night? No carryover from Friday to Saturday? I'm guessing so but just checking. I've been to Belle Claire once. It was a Sunday night Powri show in July 2015. C Bell was leading and got caught up with some lapped cars. He went to the tail & came back for the win. Spectacular racing!

bmemmer 9/28/16 6:48 PM

Yes two different shows each night. Big car counts for this race. Always on the schedule every year

Re: POWRI midgets at Belle-Clair?

Belleville, IL - Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series will take to Belle-Clair Speedway for the final time of 2016.

Saturday's event is held in honor of former Midwest Auto Racing Association President, Charlene Meents. During her years with MARA, Meents was instrumental in keeping midget racing alive in the Midwest, especially the St. Louis area. She played an important role in maintaining MARA's presence in some of the country's largest and most notable races, including the Belleville Nationals and the Chili Bowl Nationals. Though she passed away in 2003, Meents is remembered by many as a friendly face who welcomed them to each MARA event. Along with her friends and family, the Charlene Meents Memorial keeps her racing legacy alive.

Presented by Priority Aviation, the 12th Annual Charlene Meents Memorial features nearly $3,500 in extra sponsor money and contingencies, adding over $1,000 in payout to the back end of the feature purse, helping to make the feature $250 to start. Each heat race will also pay $50 to win, with $25 going to each of the second and third place heat race finishes. In addition, there will be $100 to the high point getter of the night, a $100 hard charger for the main event, and at least $25 paid to lap leaders of the feature. As an added bonus, semi non-transfers also will receive extra money and Hinchman Indy has sponsored a gift certificate for the driver with the worst luck. Gift certificates have also been provided by Simpson Race Products and Rod End Supply to be handed out to random positions throughout the evening.

A special thanks goes out to Richard and Jennifer Marshall of Priority Aviation for coming on board as the presenting sponsors of the Charlene Meents Memorial, and a big thank you goes to sponsors of all segments.

Looks like I'm gonna go to Midgets at Belleville Friday & maybe NSL in Missouri Saturday, moved my "holding pattern" west to Terre Haute. I think I was in a panic mode yesterday after broken tooth & some weird dreams.... taking my sweet time going back to Denver.... probably cause I dread driving thru Kansas!!!!

I think you should go see a Dr. tomorrow. Possibly giving up a night at arguably the best midget track there is to go watch the NSL,you need some better pain meds.........

Anyone ever take that St Genevieve ferry across Mississippi? Sounds more fun than highway.... are there lines to get on? How long does it take?

Taken it several times over the years. If the ferry is on the wrong side when you arrive you may have to wait about 15 minutes for it to come get you. If it's on the side you arrive on hardly any waiting.

Plan on a long night in Farmington for the NSL show. They don't get in any hurry there.

wildman92 9/30/16 11:14 PM

Gotta give them credit. They really tried to keep the track in good shape despite the waves of heavy mist. Ultimately, the mist (ok, let's just call it rain) won. Midget and Micro heats were competed. Tickets from tonight will be honored tomorrow. We'll try again!!

Pray for dry weather for the Gold Crown next weekend!!!.....:6:

Great show tonight. Feature was full of beating and banging and riding the cushion. Congrats to Austin Brown on the win and to Zach Daum on the championship!!

This closes out our racing for the year unless a certain indoor venue in IL schedules something before year end. Hint hint.

Had a great time tonight hanging with friends and especially with Mr Jim.

Well you're right about POWRi race... it was excellent, easily better than NSL show Friday... but NSL didn't rain out!.... so I made the right choice
My 1st POWRi event, I'm a fan now. No TTs, all racing & VERY competitive
How often do USAC midgets draw 43 cars?
Micro sprints were really good too
I'm sold....

Took the ferry, it was fun!
Also took a wild stab at motel on Hotels.com, Shepherd Mtn. Inn in Ironton, cause it was right next to State Parks,,, got lucky again, beautiful area, visited Elephant Rock SP, Civil War battle site (Fort "something" I fergit...) & drove up Bluff Road on Illinois side, French Fort "something else"(my brain is exhausted!)
One cool thing about going to new tracks is the places you discover..

Re: POWRI midgets at Belle-Clair?

Watching them run over the top of the cushion was reminiscent of watching them run over the top of the cushion at the Smackdown this year. Great racing once again at Little Belleville............
