Boones Farm 50

I was going through some graphics files the other day and stumbled across the Feature Winner sticker I made for the event. It's been a long time and I was trying to remember who won, or even who participated. Any of you guys who were a part of this still on here?

Shawn 9/9/16 11:04 PM

I'm pretty sure that Spridge could help you out on that one...

okie 9/9/16 11:30 PM

Spridge won it

Go Fast 9/9/16 11:59 PM

Sent him a Tweet but no response. I just remember that everyone seemed to have a great time. Need more activities like this one.

The real Boones Farm 50 was at Terre Haute and won by Cody Hewitt. Spridge was second by less than a foot. The stickers were made after that for a cart race. All participants were given a video that was discovered a couple of years ago.

The cart race was the only thing I knew about.

The bike race was during the 3 day show at Terre Haute that was rain delayed until Sunday.I remember Morty saying it was the most fun he ever had at the races. Cool part is seeing the the guys now who were kids then.

That bike race was where we officially met Morty, Funk, and the whole gang. I supplied the trophys. It was a great time.:32::22:Still waiting on my video.

I don't see the guy who made the video much anymore, but will try to get you one.

Brent,

What year was the three day event you are speaking of?

I am thinking 1999.Sorry Andrew beat me to it

ronmil 9/10/16 10:37 PM

Thanks, I found it in my records. It was run June 17 - 19th. It was a USAC - SCRA show. I don't have any details written down and don't remember anything about it.

ronmil 9/10/16 10:55 PM

Just checked my USAC book and it shows that Tony Jones and Jerry Coons, Jr. won 20 lap features on the 17th and 18th, while Frankie Kerr won a 40 lap feature on the 19th.

The bicycle race was held the following year in 2000. I finished 3rd and received enough money to buy a t-shirt. Kids from all over raced including Ronnie Gardner from Cali and some PA Posse kids. It was the beginning of many great friendships that still continue today. The other race that weekend was held on Sunday afternoon after rain caused a lot problems. It was won by Jay Drake in the Kunz mobile and had a terrible wreck to start the feature on the front stretch. Still one of my the favorite memories from that weekend was Ratboy destroying a lawn chair and eventually throwing it on top of the pavilion roof. Good times with a lot of great people!

Todd Kane out of the park in turn 1 on the start in the Biddle 26; Danny Smith also involved. DO caught that one. That was the catalyst to Jay Drakes memorable 2000 campaign. Goody and Coach had the bike track in top notch shape ;). Cody Hewitt, Spridge and Ryan Pedersen your top 3.

I believe Strawberry Hill soured many, many people from ever being able to enjoy wine of any kind for the rest of their lives! Especially young ladies of that era.

the story is classic enough....I use that line so often that people who are in my life now know the story of how that phrase came to be. I use it all the time while teaching driving at the academy too....the recruits just look at me like im crazy....
