Headed that way Saturday afternoon. Looking forward to seeing all my friends in Section A . Its been a long winter. Cool weather won't keep me away. Not any different than going to a crisp cool night football game.:23::23::23:

We will be there as well Was cold at the season-ender but was warm for the feature. If 24 ground pounding sprinters don't make ya warm and fuzzy, Bring a flask :19:

Re: USAC, Lawrenceburg April 2nd details
Wish I could join all my friends there but have a appointment with a couple of doctors Monday in Indy . So I better rest up for that. I hope everyone has a blast watching the best racing on this planet :8:

Will the grandstand block the wind? Coming from kokomo not sure which way the wind is blowing there.thanks
|
Re: USAC, Lawrenceburg April 2nd details
I'm skipping this one because of the anticipated low temps and high winds, also doing eight hours and 450 miles solo is not very appealing. Jim will be riding shotgun with me tomorrow for the Sumar Classic. Hope to see everyone tomorrow! Just spoke with Jim and he will not be my shotgun rider tomorrow. He will be getting much needed rest preparing for his surgery Monday. A wise decision, in my opinion. Better to miss some races now and be in better shape to enjoy the season this summer. Wishing all the best for Jim!

Re: USAC, Lawrenceburg April 2nd details
I am on my way. I will be glad to be there. I will be glad to be anywhere after white-knuckling it on I275 trying to keep the car in one lane and out of the ditches with these strong winds.

I'm trying to convince myself that it is sunny and 75 degrees with a slight breeze here at the Burg.

What's the deal with all the blown tires?
|
Rubber Down track equals blown or shreaded tires.

Turned into a tire race.first, second, and third among others blew right rear a.Dave was as straight into and out of the corners as you could be on a dirty track the whole race.taking care of that right rear...paid off big time.congrats DD and Walker racing.even had a fuel stop with all the tires blowing.go Dave

Where is the weekly recap from Charles?

Re: USAC, Lawrenceburg April 2nd details
I didn't get home till noon the day after LOL.
My review is that the heats and consi were great and my post from another thread came true for the feature Was also great seeing DD win and continue the streak to 26 straight years of a USAC national win. My Post from another thread I also think tracks making mandatory corners or all should have the harder option available. They shouldn't have to go out there knowing for a fact the RR will be gone or it become a race of attrition due to blow outs like the last Bubba race was. Making things last, that's for Champ Cars. BTW, I don't blame the track at all. he could have put a hour into the track while we were all freezing and it probably wouldn't have changed much the way the wind was. It was still going to be a race between cars until it became a race against the end of tire life. |

It is a shame!

4 out of the last 5 times I've been it's been rubber down. It's certainly not the tire compound, run the same tire everywhere. It's pretty simple, when you pack dirt down as hard as concrete and never actually turn the track over its going to be dusty, slick, and will likely take rubber, and water isn't going to correct it. hard to run local shows when you destroy a minimum of three tires a night for 1500 to win.
