RIP Dwight Clock
:(
I just learned this morning that Dwight Clock passed away Friday morning. I received a phone call from his brother who shared the information with me. I will post more information when I get it. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Clock family and may Dwight RIP! He will be missed!:( |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Wow, this is horrible news for sure. My thoughts and prayers got out to the Clock family. I agree, this board just will not be the same.
Rest In Peace, Dwight. :( |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Dwight was a good man, who volunteered his time for those less fortunate than him. He was a very articulate poster, that unofficially served as this board's historian. Saying that this board won't be the same without him, is definitely an understatement. Rest in peace my friend.

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
What a shock! It seemed like a few days ago he was going strong on here! I am among those who have never met Dwight but, have always respected and enjoyed his input on this board. RIP Dwight. I extend my thoughts and prayers to those who loved Dwight and are suffering because of the loss of family and friend.

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Sorry to hear this.
|
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
I got to meet him last year at Border Wars at GC and he was every bit as nice and informative in person as on the boards. Many a night in chats he'd break out some racing trivia questions.
Thanks for the good times Dwight. We will miss you! Chuck |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Very sad indeed. One of the best posters on this or any other messege board.
You will be missed Dwight. Now you can watch the greats again. Save all of us a seat at the greatest speedway imaginable. |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
WOW!!!! I have never met Dwight but I will miss his very insightful posts. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
|
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
I never got to meet Dwight but always read his posts as they were very informative and positive. He was a roll model that we should all try to emulate.
:checkered: RIP Dwight |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
I am so sorry to hear this. Dwight added a lot to this and other forums. He attended more races, especially on the East Coast, that I will have dreamed of attending. I saw him at Winchester early this year and I was in high hopes of seeing him up there again later in the year.
Anyone who knew him and his health issues in recent years probably had in the back of their mind this scenerio playing out, but it is still quite a shock. Rest in peace my friend.:crying: |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
:crying: Can't believe it....this hurts big time. Just heard the sad new from Bob and Monica Clauson and was floored. Had developed a really strong friendship with Dwight since he moved here from NY specifically for the racing. Will treasure the several hours we spent together last October when we had a long lunch before the MSCS event here. Only got to see him a time or two this season due to his move to Clermont, his IMS job, his health issues, and travel cutbacks by me. I'll also miss his many contributions here on IOW, especially his digs at my age.
At some future time I hope to be more upbeat with a celebration of his life, as I know he would insist. But for now it's :crying: . R.I.P. my friend. |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Although i never met Dwight, i really enjoyed his wisdom and character. Dwight enjoy your new life, because i'm sure you are going to see better racing now then all of us down here. My condolences go out to the Clock family.:crying:

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
:crying: RIP Dwight. THoughts and prayers to his family and close friends.

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
I met Dwight at a PRA event at IRP. He went out of his way to come down to our pit and introduce himself. Up to that point, we had communicated many times via PM's on this board. Since then, whenever I'd see him, I made a point to say hello and talk for a while. Very high rent guy. I'm really glad now that I made his acquaintance.

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
WOW. Didn't see that coming. What a huge shock. I spoke and emailed with him several times this past week. He, myself and Donald Davidson from the speedway were doing some research on a 500 chief mechanic from the 60's.
Dwight was a rare guy. He would gladly give you the shirt off his back, a genuinely nice person. He would drop what he was doing to help someone out. I had the pleasure of dealing with him in the past when he was a race official. Racing could use more people like Dwight. More often than not, he was the voice of reason. So sorry to hear this news, rest in peace old buddy. Save me a seat in the top row. :crying: David. |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
What a shock - Dwight will be missed by all of us (and on Trackforum too). I consider myself blessed to have met him.
RIP, Dwight |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Unbelievable. :crying:
It was just a couple weeks ago that Dwight emailed me an encouraging note about that I need to come to the racetrack and see him after my dad passed. He called me a friend and I was proud to call him my friend. It's been a tough year for me, and Dwight really got me back on my feet because of something he said to me. I was planning on seeing him soon at a racetrack. This hurts. I'll miss you Dwight! Richie Murray |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Very sad and shocking news. I am also one who never met Dwight, but his racing knowledge and all-around class were apparent in his posts. My thoughts are with his family.
Just goes to show you how trivial the little arguments and such we have on this board really are. |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Will miss one of "the historians of racing". He was as knowledgable as "Boston Bob Blair". It's sad to see us lose all the knowledge. If only they could have written books, so this information wasn't lost. RIP
Bob and Monica |

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
OH MY. This is sooooo sad to hear. My condolances to his family. My thoughts and prayers go out to them as well.
I met Dwight at Gas City last year and was taken aback by not only his knowledge but his overall demeanor. I always enjoyed talking to him at the track. RIP Dwight. Enjoy the feature races on heaven. He gets to see some great ones now. |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
SAD, terrible news. Condolences to the Family of Dwight Clock.
He will be missed by so many. R.I.P. Dwight First met Dwight at the "Track Forum" message board meeting at the Union County Speedway sprint car race shortly after he had moved from New York so he could enjoy more auto racing. However it was not unusual for Dwight to pass up a race to volunteer his time to help the Veteran's organization in Marion. He most recently worked at the IMS Museum. :crying: |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Whenever Dwight would chime in on a controversial subject on this board it seems everyone would sit up and take notice. He was always the voice of reason on here and I don't think anyone would argue that he was THE most respected poster in this group. We will all have to work very hard to bring ourselves to the level where Dwight lived his life. Even though we never met face to face, we were friends. True friendship is worth more than anything man can make. This is a very sad day.

Rip mr. Clock. You will be missed.

RIP Dwight. THoughts and prayers to his family and close friends.

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Dwight had the passion of the sport. He was a part of the east coast for a long time and finally move to Indiana by IRP and had a job at IMS. He was very happy with that. Dwight would come by the show and we could talk about the old days, the things we saw and did long ago in racing. He was very much a gentleman and a dyed in the wool racer.
Dwight we will miss you buddy ! :respect: D.O., Family and Racin' with D.O. crew. :dologob: |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
What a shock to hear of Dwight's passing. I first met him at Terre Haute when he sat across the aisle from me. During our conversation we discovered that we both frequented IOW. I guess the last time I actually talked to Dwight in person was at Gas City during ISW in 2007, when we had a rather lengthy conversation.
This board certainly won't be the same without his input. RIP, my friend |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
So sad:crying:, don't think that I can add anything that hasn't already been said. His history, knowledge and such are second to none. RIP Mr Clock:respect::checkered:

Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Wow what a shock !
Always enjoyed what Dwight had to say no matter the subject. He was a prolific poster on several boards, and always had heartfelt message to share.I once razzed him that I was going to move to Indy and take his job at the IMS Museum when he retired. Was hoping to get to the Jungle Park Reunion to meet him for the first time after he posted he would be there. RIP friend. Tom |
Re: RIP Dwight Clock
Terrible news. :crying: When I brought up the board and seen the RIP I thought to myself what a terrible joke to be playing. Then I got on here and seen it was for real. I just don't even know what to say. It was just a couple of weeks ago when Dwight was on her posting about his move to Clermont. What a shock to all of us. This board will never be the same without Dwight. Our prayers go out to all friends and family. Just at a loss for words here.:crying:
