Flat tail tank?

Please tell me this isn't what sprint cars are going to look like soon.

TKRacing 12/30/15 9:05 PM

Caught it that time! Missed is scrolling through the pics so fast. Thanks for pointing out which car!

Re: Flat tail tank?

No problem :) When I click the link it goes straight to his car so I assumed it would for everyone. My bad :)

TKRacing 12/30/15 9:14 PM

Might have something to do with me being on my phone.

Just say Swindell style tank and everyone will know exactly what you mean.

And no I would say probably not- most sanctioning bodies will not allow any style other than your traditional tank style..... I think the Swindell style tanks are hideous, but- to each his own and if they want to run that style all the power to them.

The hideous wing is bad enough.

I just repeated what he had under the picture but yeah, I should have worded it different.

They used to run those in the 70's nothing new
You know what they say what's old is new again

Rich Mersereau 12/30/15 11:38 PM

The #11 should be retired from all sprint car racing. King rules.

Call it my age (23) and having not been around long enough to TRULY appreciate the long long lineage of the Sprint Car evolution, but, I don't personally have a problem with these tanks. Easier to letter, ease of assembly/repair and potentially better weight management.

As said above though, to each is own!

Back in the day that they raced with tanks like this the cars that ran them were called "Super Modified's". A step down from the "magna fluxed paper carrying" Sprint car of that time.

They used to run them on the sprint cars in the 70s in Florida at Goldengate Speedway and other tracks around here but I think that is where they got the idea

One that comes to mind in our area was Jack Kraylek Blue & White # 71. Ran Findlay (Millstream) & Fremont back in the day.

I think it makes them look like Lawn Mowers 😕

Saw it last night at Cocopah. Kind of reminds me of a manx cat.

Re: Flat tail tank?

Might be easier to letter (so would a stock car or a board), but the car number sure isn't going to be visible to fans in stands if they don't always run a topwing...

Re: Flat tail tank?

Rules where we race say: Traditional Sprint style only:19:, who defines this?? Beats me:32:

v8j 1/3/16 6:27 PM

If it improves the Sprint Car. Why not run them

Re: Flat tail tank?

What's the advantage or disadvantage to running a square or traditional tank.

v8j 1/4/16 9:55 AM

It puts the weight over the axle. And I believe they have better baffling to control fluid motion.
