2 questions: A) Are the CRA cars 360s or 410s? (B) If they're 410s, does everybody race together, or are USAC & CRA separate races?
On my way Thurs. morning, looking forward to my first visit there....

CRA are 410's. USAC & CRA will be racing under one banner this weekend. Pumped for my first visit to the PAS this week/weekend! Flying out of Philly tonight.

Just a heads up if you have never been there before....take some warm clothes with you. When the sun goes down it can get chilly there. The 1st time I went to Perris was in June of 2002. Arrived at the track at 5 p.m. with 81 degrees and sunshine wearing shorts, a t shirt and flip flops. I saw most people coming in carrying coats and I thought "why is everyone bringing coats with them?"....by 8 p.m. I knew why...lol Trust me you will need the warm clothes. Weather calls for Sunny and highs in the upper 70's all week. Have fun....you will enjoy Perris.

All who are going have a great time at The PAS! You can bank on some excellent wingless action, that's for sure. Wish we could make trip to SoCal this year for the Oval's. Made the trip West 3 times for the Oval's and once for Turkey Night. It's worth every minute and every dime.

And, what Cowboy says about when the sun goes down is damn straight. It's gonna' cool off, so be prepared.

Being from Pennsylvania, I should be able to be prepared for the cold ;)

I'm from South Dakota and have froze my butt off at the PAS!!!
Make sure and pack extra!!!

Re: The Facts on the Budweiser Oval Nationals

It's kinda odd, I've seen many visitors to west coast races freeze there ass, no matter if they come from the midwest or even Alaska. Tonight it will be 50 degrees at 9 pm.

For anyone visiting, dress for nice weather during the day (shorts), cold brezzy weather at night, and expect horrible traffic at all hours. LEAVE EARLY for the race track.

But on the bright side, this race has the most talent and equipment for a non wing race. It's one of the crown jewels for non wing racing, with the best of the west and midwest meeting at the PAS. It should be on everyone's bucket list :)

Perris is warm and balmy compared to Ventura.

The first time at Ventura my wife swore she had frost bite toes.

Thanks Cowboy, wondering about that myself, just checked Weather Underground. I'm used to dry cold here in Denver, it snowed 4 inches this morning, then the sun came out, I was on my bicycle at 4 pm. But 40 degrees on the Gulf Coast is unbearable, way too humid. Isn't Perris kind of in the desert? I'll bring warm stuff, cause Monday when I fly home its supposed to snow again anyway

Got up at 5:30 AM to get flight in Denver, no problem, got to Salt Lake City for connection to LA, half the plane boarded, they tell us altimeter isn't working. After we sat on plane getting hotter & hotter, they told us to get out. Now we're killing time waiting for them to figure it out.... you'd think they'd have spare planes gassed up & ready to go?
I guess they trim every expense possible to increase profits :11:

and it was a summer race ;)

Perris can be 100 plus summer while Ventura might be in the 60's on the same day.
I am lucky I can go to both tracks.

No big deal, just add or delete clothes. Only bad weather day at a sprint car race, is when it rains :13: I missed the trophy cup this year when the mud shut down the 5, looks like great weather for everyone this week.

cheers

Yep, they're saving $$ at our expense. Ticket agent just told me spare planes would be a drain on their budget. I should have flown to Ontario, Ca. as someone suggested. Planned this flight so as to get to LAX about noon, miss rush hr. traffic.... now? :7:

As I was pulling in the parking lot, B Main was just starting. Go see A-Main, which was quite good, several lead changes. Traffic is INSANE in L.A. area, took me 3 1/2 hrs. to get from LAX to Perris, & I cheated by using carpool lanes on & off.... do they enforce those? I couldn't help thinking "Why would anyone live here?" but obviously millions do...
Tri-tip sandwich was killa...
Hopefully I'll be less stressed out tonite, but at his point, give me Kokomo & summertime!
I'll be wearing a Darland or Smackdown T-shirt if you see me before "sweatshirt time", say Hi. It was cold but not as bad as Volusia in Februray...

Next time, Ontario airport fo sho!
How is traffic from San Diego?

TC 11/13/15 3:51 PM

We flew into Ontario and are staying in Moreno valley. It is a very easy drive from the airport and to the racetrack. We also were advised by some locals to drive between 10-11 and return by about 2:30 and we would avoid most traffic. That has worked well for us as we've been to LA and San Diego and haven't experienced much traffic.

Well despite hellish drive from LAX, I'm really glad I went to Oval Nats. Thurs. A Main was the best, but hard to get in the mood, trying to decompress from stressful 3 1/2 hr. drive. Rest of the weekend was fun, enhanced by Sat. drive thru scenic Cleveland (?) State National Forest to visit my sweet cousin in San Juan Capistrano. Met lots of cool people, great racing

TRAFFIC SUCKS in LA, if ur going to Ovals next year, Ontario is a better choice, plus day trips to San Diego are possible to.

Good car count, good racing and good friends make for a fun weekend. Just two more races in Socal, the King of the WIng this saturday followed by the Turkey Night Grand Prix :)

Oh, I will DEFINITELY use Ontario next time!
If I didn't have to work, I would stay around for Turkey Night, & have dinner with my Uncle (Late Dad's kid brother), who might not be around much longer. He reminds me so much of Pop, but mellower (both had to work as little kids during Depression, but my Dad had to do it to help support the family, Uncle Joe got to have more fun) Cousin said he had to deal with lawyers this weekend, not a good time to see him....
