Roll Call Jason Leffler Mem
Jason Leffler Memorial, a $20,000-to-win event sponsored by Great Clips, will be the largest-paying midget event in 2015. Held October 23rd at Wayne County Speedway, all proceeds will go to the Charlie Dean Leffler Discretionary Fund.
The Leffler Memorial was organized by Wayne County Speedway owner Doug Stringer in 2012 to honor his long-time friend who died in a sprint car crash on June 12, 2013. Leffler was 37 and is survived by his five-year old son, Charlie Dean. “This race is my way to honor Jason, who was a great racer, but more importantly a great father to Charlie Dean,” Stringer explained. “As we continue to mourn, we must keep Charlie Dean in the forefront of our minds and do everything we can to ensure he grows up knowing what an amazing person his father was and how much he was respected as both a driver and a friend.” Stringer has continued to improve and enhance the facilities since purchasing the track in 2012. In 2014, Stringer added more grandstands, an upper deck area, as well as re-conditioning the track surface with new dirt. Previous winners of the event include 2013 and 2014 POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series Champion Zach Daum (2013), and 2013 World of Outlaw’s STP Sprint Car Series Champion Daryn Pittman (2014). |

Count the Morgans in for first timers. We'll be there to make sure Jim stays under control. At least until his parole officer gets there. 😜
Stop by and say hey! |

Been to both of them, and I'll be there again! Weather is supposed to be a little warmer this weekend. At least it won't be ninety-six degrees as it was last year.

Re: Roll Call Jason Leffler Mem
Is there anywhere to eat lunch nearby? Planning to get there early to save seats & wondered about food options. May bring a grill along instead.
|
There is a place called Jts they have great food last I new or a place called the red barn. And it's up the road in Wayne city.

Re: Roll Call Jason Leffler Mem
Selfishly, I wish this was Saturday. I can't get off work early enough to make it. Hope it is a fun, safe night with perfect weather.
|
Re: Roll Call Jason Leffler Mem
Anyone know what other classes they are running?
|
I think just midgets are running.
|
Got to agree with funk. Here I am trying to rally the troops to head down when I realized it's Friday instead of Saturday. I doubt I would make it there on time if I only worked half a day. Anyone have any idea why that is on Friday instead of Saturday?

The only minor glitch in the show last year was the hole that developed between turns 3 & 4. I'll bet they have that figured out. Really looking forward to this race!! |

Re: Roll Call Jason Leffler Mem
The previous ones have been run midweek. Last year it was on Tuesday, and it was Wednesday in 2013.
|
I really wouldn't get caught up in the entry list. Had over 45 the first two years. If I was you guys make sure you take your blood pressure medicine before heading out.😀 see everyone Friday!

I wish I could make it as well, however I will be stuck at work!! As of right now if it was on Saturday I'd definitely be there! I haven't been able to attend this one yet due to work.
Good luck to all the car owners, drivers, and crews!! Safe travels to all and I hope to see you all at the races again!! Kasi Chapman |

Re: Roll Call Jason Leffler Mem
What's the situations with concessions and bringing coolers to this track? never been there before - thanks
|
Last year they allowed coolers. That may change this year with it being a bigger crowd.didn't see big ones though may have a restriction on size. They have some good food too.

Many, many times we've seen feature races consisting of 24 dirt late models race at Macon Speedway. Not to mention full fields of modifieds and street stocks. So, it is, in fact, possible to run mods or street stocks at Wayne County. If the mud taxi's can race at Macon I reckon they can race at Wayne County but at the Leffler Memorial Race thank God they're not. |
