10/12/15 11:17 AM LAWRENCEBURG’S “FALL NATIONALS” SET TO UNFOLD SATURDAY
http://usacracing.com/news/sprint-ca...nfold-saturday http://usacracing.com/media/k2/items...50bacfa0_S.jpg * LAWRENCEBURG’S “FALL NATIONALS” SET TO UNFOLD SATURDAY The final Midwestern appearance of the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car series occurs this Saturday night at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway. It’s the “Fall Nationals,” rescheduled from October 3 due to rain on the originally-scheduled date. Rocklin, Calif. driver Robert Ballou enters Saturday’s race with a slim 25-point lead over Chase Stockon, while third-place Dave Darland looms just 35 points back of the leader with 74 points available Saturday. Ballou and Stockon are seeking their initial USAC championships, while Darland won the 1999 title and is one of five USAC “Triple Crown” champions. Ballou has 10 victories already this season and seeks his first 2015 Lawrenceburg victory after finishing third in April and second in July. April winner Logan Jarrett is expected to return to the series Saturday and July winner Brady Bacon is also expected to be in the field as the series concludes its Midwestern slate prior to a half-dozen final races on the West Coast next month. The series concludes November 12-14 and 19-21 with races at Perris, Calif. and Tucson, Ariz. respectively. * |

Re: Usac: Lawrenceburg’s “fall nationals” set to unfold satu
Kokomo for me on Friday. Trying to bring a first timer to the Burg with me.
|
Was really looking forward to going this weekend as I haven't been there since they ran the hut hundred there back in the day. But low and behold my 2 best buddies are running their modifieds at kokomo. Got to go help them out instead. At least I'll be at a race track in spite of the fenders involved. Hope you all get a great weekend of racing!

Re: Usac: Lawrenceburg’s “fall nationals” set to unfold satu
I'll probably have to skip this one. The person who was going to ride shotgun has another commitment, and I don't want to make a seven hour round trip solo. Hard to find consistent right front passengers down here in Evansville since my wife's health doesn't permit her to attend many races anymore. She really misses seeing Dave Darland and all the guys race, and Lawrenceburg is one of her favorite tracks.

The still say R word is a no no, 20% for after midnight thurs but gone and sun by mid afternoon. Saturday is 0%
They keep lowering the temps for both days. 63-53. See you there. Dress warm |
Thought I saw on twitter that the burg is paying a 1k bonus to the highest finishing outlaw regular that runs with usac Saturday. One can only hope that a few of them go after it!

1K to the highest OUTLAW REGULAR, And there is a Award for the highest average finish of both shows. Prosource has also put 1,100 for quick time Saturday. |

What do you guys think? Think any of the outlaws will take the lids off? I know that they are committed to certain things, but if I am a professional racer and can race again without any travel cost, it seems like a no brainer. Especially with no conflicting wing race

Re: Usac: Lawrenceburg’s “fall nationals” set to unfold satu
Planning to make the trek across state Saturday with a carload of warm clothes. Probably my last race until the Florida season starts.

You will be surprised! All I will say.
|
Mr.circle, what racer of that caliber thinks of destroying a race car? I could see if it was a local show but not with most of the best non wingers in the country. I would say they have no better chance of tearing stuff up than they do at any other race. They will be competing against the same type of racer, only no wings.

Chris Bell while not full time runs both. Thorson, Courtney, Ballou,Hines, Hunter Percent Todd Kane, Spithaler and a few others all drive both. IDK how many WoO regulars will run Sat. I imagine a few will try. 11-12k to win it if your a WoO driver. Rico, Haud's, and Clauson are doing the Trophy Cup so they won't be there but most of the WoO plus many ASCOC, Mowa, OVSC and FAST series |

They risk their chassis every night. That being said, I think most won't but some will. |

Never seen that advertised till now. Thanks for updating us! :) |
Re: Usac: Lawrenceburg’s “fall nationals” set to unfold satu
I hope they all do it... but the key phrase is 'WoO regular'. Does that mean anyone who has run with the WoO this year, or is it just the WoO Platinum members? That would probably rule out Bell, Haud, Rico, and many or most of the All-Star teams and Ohio local teams for any of the extra money.

Top 20 in WoO points listed below. Of that Sweet and Pittman, Swindell but like 20yrs ago I know have done NW. And Brad Sweet was great NW Expecially at tracks like Eldora.

So you think the woo cars actually cost more than a nonwing car?
|
Re: Usac: Lawrenceburg’s “fall nationals” set to unfold satu
Quote:
But the real cost is number of spares of everythinng, Number of running cars etc. Some of these teams keep three or four running cars for different size tracks. Also the number of motors and rebuilds. But the actual single race car racing that night? Not much. The actual real problems with them running WoO NW would be front axels and they don't have cockpit adjustable shocks. |
Re: Usac: Lawrenceburg’s “fall nationals” set to unfold satu
Lawrenceburg Speedway’s blockbuster weekend October 16-17 is attracting some exciting additions to the program for Saturday’s “Fall Nationals” USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car event on “Breast Cancer Awareness Night” at the track. In addition to a $10,000-to-win event, wrapping up the Midwest portion of the season for the series, announcements came last week to include a $1,100 total bonus for the night’s ProSource “Fast Time Award” and a $100 B&W Auto Mart “Hard Charger Award” in the feature.
With the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars leading off the weekend on Friday, October 16th presented by KOI Auto Parts, another wrinkle has been added. Thanks to the help of sponsors Priority Aviation, Indy Race Parts, and Spike Chassis, the performer over the two nights of racing will receive prizes, and the highest finishing World of Outlaws regular in Saturday’s USAC event will receive a $1,000 bonus. A $500 gift certificate from Indy Race Parts and a radiator from Spike Products will go to the driver with the driver with the best average finish between both nights. Defending USAC Sprint Car champion Brady Bacon and Kevin Thomas, Jr., who currently sits sixth in series points, have both been active in World of Outlaws competition this season. Bacon finished second in the Hoosier State in May at Tri-State Speedway. After Friday’s $10,000-to-win event, the World of Outlaws have Saturday night off from their hectic schedule. With permission already granted by their series to compete with USAC and a substantial payout posted, the pressure is now on to see who will try their hand against the USAC regulars. Only Brad Sweet among them has been victorious in a USAC Sprint Car, with wins at Eldora Speedway in Ohio and Terre Haute, Indiana. Sweet led a 2009 USAC Sprint Car event at Lawrenceburg before ultimately finishing third. Donny Schatz, who won at Lawrenceburg in 2014, has already put a lock on the 2015 World of Outlaws championship as he leads the tour into Friday’s event. Robert Ballou’s USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship lead is down to 25 points over 2012 “Fall Nationals” winner Chase Stockon and Dave Darland, who is 35 points back. All three are former winners at Lawrenceburg. Tickets for both nights are already available at LawrenceburgSpeedway.com/cart/categories.php or by contacting the track at 812-539-4700. Budweiser UMP Modifieds will be on the card for both nights, with hot laps each night at 6pm. :6: |
Re: Usac: Lawrenceburg’s “fall nationals” set to unfold satu
Also on tap for Saturday is the VARC vintage racers with several old sprints, midgets and roadsters.
Three years ago, Josh Shaw took his 1948 Indy Car out and ran above he cushion throwing roosters. That memory will last forever. |
