MVT / BOSS Heads to Eldora Sprintacular
BOSS Heads to Eldora Speedway for the Sprintacular
The 2015 season has been a record setting one with eight of the scheduled twenty BOSS races falling victim to weather. Two of those eight rain outs were able to be made up. Now, the Mo Vaughn Transport / Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series looks to finish the season strong with the season points finale at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio as part of the "Sprintacular" which will also feature 2 divisions of winged sprint cars. Despite running at the end of the card, the tour has upstaged the headliners the last 2 years in a row with a huge car count and some fantastic racing! For the first time in BOSS history, the season points championship has been decided before the cars ever take to the 1/2 mile Eldora banks. The "Guilford Gasser" Shawn Westerfeld of Guilford, Indiana has secured the 2015 title with one feature win and the most consistent performance the tour has ever seen. Westerfeld would like nothing more than to cap off his championship season with an Eldora Speedway victory. All of the BOSS stars and cars will be on hand. Past tour champions Mike Miller and Dustin Smith hold down the #2 and #3 spot in the standings with 2014 national non-wing rookie of the year Cooper Clouse in the fourth spot. Aaron Middaugh and Michael Fischesser are currently tied for the fifth spot while Chad Wilson, Cody Gardner, Justin Owen and Bob McMillin round out the top 10. This Saturday at Eldora, the event times have been moved up for the fall temperatures. Pit gates will open at 12:30 pm and general admission ticket sales will also begin. General admission gates open at 1 pm. BOSS pill draw will close at 4 pm. Drivers meeting will be at the BOSS tent at 4:05, with engine heat promptly at 5:15 and hot laps beginning at 5:37. Racing action will begin at 6 pm with BOSS running after the All Star and NRA preliminary shows. General admission is $20 for ages 13 and up, ages 7-12 are $4 while ages 6 and under is free. Pit passes will be $25 and nobody under age 14 will be admitted into the pit area. Kids ages 14-17 will need a minor release signed by both parents and notarized (or both parents available to sign at the gate. The minor release is available on the website at www.eldoraspeedway.com As always with the BOSS tour, there are no membership fees or registration fees. The standard BOSS purse of $1,500 to win and $250 to start is up for grabs along with heat race and bonus money. Teams will be paid by check immediately after the completion of the A-Main. Transponder rental will be $10. Fuel is available at the track but must be purchased before racing action begins. There are no mufflers required for this event. Re: MVT / BOSS Heads to Eldora Sprintacular
Lets put this positively, Look at the number of positions gained in many of tose races and tell me whats not to love about NW Sprint Cars.

It was a great racing event. See you guys at the burg next weekend. Going to be a great show at the burg.

Re: MVT / BOSS Heads to Eldora Sprintacular
What a great night of racing. 124 cars on hand in 3 different divisions. Robert Ballou was the class of the BOSS portion. I was hoping Clauson would have something for him but he was simply the fastest car on the track last night.
The All Stars also had a strong 42 car field. Blaney and Kemanah had a great battle in the feature. Kemanah ended up passing Blaney which was a bit unexpected after Blaney took over the lead from him earlier in the race. Rico put on a show from 22 to 5th. NRA also had a strong 28 car field. Ryan Ruhl ran away with the feature after taking the lead when Kyle Sauder flipped in lap traffic. Overall a great event and one I would look to go back to in the future. |
Was very impressed watching Hunter work his way through the field, and when Robert got out front you knew it was pretty much over.

Re: MVT / BOSS Heads to Eldora Sprintacular
I imagine Hunter, Hines, Rico, possibly Ballou and others will run both next weekend, Not sure. Going to be a great weekend but chilly. Right now its low and no chance of .... for Fri and Sat.

Rico racing at the Trophy Cup in Tulare next weekend

Actually they did as someone said Abreu came from 22nd to 5th & in the NRA Hannagan came from the tail or close to it to a top 5. Excellent show.
Thought the track workers were a little slow for the 1st 2 flips I know the red was. |

Re: MVT / BOSS Heads to Eldora Sprintacular
With all due respect. The wing cars qualified and the fastest transfers ran the dash and started per finishing position of that. So technically the fastest were up front to begin with.
Why I much preffer the USAC invert system and even Boss. Most Boss Events try to limit heats to 8 cars or so. give ten laps and transfer the top 4 or three based on car count and number of heats. They also usually give enough consis to keep it under 15 for more chance of being able to transfer. Nothing perfect but I don't like systems that don't promote passing. Rico blew in his heat. transfered in his consi and came from the back of the A to the top five. Pretty damn impressive. |
It's hard to compare when the formats aren't the same. Blaney passed cars in the heat, he passed cars in the dash and was rewarded with a good starting position. If Blaney, Kehmanah, Sheldon, Rico, etc start in the back they pass people. The issue is they don't often start in the back.

Had a blast also can't wait for 2016 but first the double at the Burg

Re: MVT / BOSS Heads to Eldora Sprintacular
I seen that & it's always that way in the feature. The other thing is they start the fast guys up front & then on top of that the top 6 rows were lined up from the dash so they are essentially finishing where they start.
Different formats. When Boss only takes 3 & you have 4 good guys somebody has to run the B. |
Re: MVT / BOSS Heads to Eldora Sprintacular
Keep in mind too, the BOSS race almost went caution free so all these guys doing all this passing with almost NO help from cautions. The caution was for debris of all things!
Schuerenberg from 19th to 4th (+15), Brandon Whited from 23rd to 11th (+12), Bryan Clauson from 13th to 2nd (+11), Chad Boespflug from 10th to 3rd (+7) and Scotty Weir from 12th to 5th (+7). In the B, Dickie Gaines from 17th to 6th (+11) in 12 laps. The heat races provided tons of passing as well with Clauson from 9th to 3rd to transfer, Ballou from the back to win, Bill Rose from 6th to 3rd to transfer, Logan Jarrett from 8th to 2nd to make the redraw, and Jarret Andretti 7th to 3rd to transfer. |
