Anybody Know What is Up with JJ Yeley??
 

There was someone different in his car for the road race and I kind of got that, maybe road courses are not JJ's strong suit. Then last week at Bristol they have Kenny Schrader in the car and he is also I think driving this weekend in California and then he is going to run the Richmond race. They have come out with an announcement today that Joey Lagano is going to drive the car for 5 races. What gives?? Nothing is being said about JJ. Please be nice with your responses too. I don't want to hear from JJ bashers, just curious if anyone knows if he has lost his ride, if he is sick, had surgery, stepped down on his own?? I tried going to his website but it does not tell me anything either. If anyone knows what is really going on please let me know. If you don't want to post it on the board you can pm me. Thanks.

When did that happen?? He ran the Brickyard and that was not very long ago. Then he went on to run Pocono too which was this month. I never did hear any announcement or anything.

He was fired, our beloved JJ just can't get a handle on those big heavy fendered cars.

I hate to hear that. He had been in Nascar long enough that he was living that lifestyle. They did a special on him showing a VERY BIG, BEAUTIFUL, SPACIOUS HOME!!! Nascar is where the money is, not as much fun, but certainly pays better.
Hope this does not get him in financial troubles.

Since JJ has been out of that car, The car has had a 38th place finish at Watkins Glen, and that was because of a Huge Crash with ten laps to go. Before that- The car was 43rd.

At Michigan- The car finished 38th again and that was because of crashes and Blown engines. Basically he raced around the track almost the WHOLE RACE in 43rd place.

Kenny Schrader took it over next- He qualified a really good 7th, but he dropped to 18th by lap 60 and fell back even further into 30th place or more by midway. He also grabbed some spots due to some big wreck and came home with a decent 21st place finish.

The car has been very bad , but with Logano coming over from JGR to drive 5 races, I think Joey might get some good equipment and you might be seeing a difference in the car this weekend. Just a guess.


But the car prior to that- JJ was doing the very best he could. They just never really listened to him. He asked them at Indy to take 4 tires and they did a two tire stop. At one race he had to battle from one lap down due to the water bottle incident and the last race he drove the car- They ran him out of gas with 5 laps to GO!! Not one- But 5!!! Thats not a JJ issue.

Oh Well- I will never believe that JJ was the problem in the 18 or the 96! He just has had some poor equipment and when the car was good- Dang- SOmething broke or someone crashed him out.

I am in total agreement with you on him not getting good equipment. I still think he has the talent but I don't know if anyone will give him a chance now. That stinks!!!

I would pay $500 to of had Jack in the car and have it run out of gas with 5 to go. The garage would of been the place to be then! :O:

I remember a guy named Steve Kinser that couldn't make it in NASCAR.. he went on to do very well.. maybe the TV thing will help him.... or his wife could get a job.. Do they still do the.. (Women Work??) LOL!!! Maybe he sould drive the Truck's. most guy's that suck in the car's do very good in the truck's...

Steve Kinser wasn't given a fair opportunity in NASCAR. One, he went straight from the sprint cars to cup. Secondly, despite that obvious lack of seat time, he was only given 7 races before being fired by Kenny Bernstein at North Wilkesboro in April of his first season. It was a raw deal.

I still wonder if he got fired or if he just quit. These kind of things would drive a racer crazy IMHO.

According to Robin Miller and Dave Despain on "Windtunnel" a few weeks ago, Yeley was fired by Hall of Fame racing via a text messege. Not to be too judgemental but...what the hell is that all about? :thumbsdown:

Well, that's partially true, I guess. I was watching NASCAR Now a few weeks ago because J.J. was due to call in. He said that Hall of Fame Racing sent him a text to come to the shop. Once there, they told him that they were going in a different direction. I'm a huge Yeley fan, but I'm still not sure that this won't turn out to be a good thing for him. :thumb

this was on nascar.com also. pretty crappy of a team to fire someone via a text message.

Bernstein's team was going belly up and putting Steve in the car was a last ditch effort to make a miracle. The car was not on a par with the better part of the Nascar field. It was good of Quaker State to step up to the plate and support Steve's return to sprint cars.

Hope Yeley lands somewhere. Definately the only reason I remotely follow NASCAR.

No problem, David. It's still kind of shady to involve a text message in the situation, at all. However, I just figured I'd throw that info out there, since I heard it from Mr. Yeley himself! :D

It's pretty much J.J. and Bryan that have kept me somewhat interested in NASCAR, too. So, needless to say, I haven't been following NASCAR much lately. :checkered:

One thing is for sure, JJ was a monster in a sprint car. Lets hope he comes back to open wheel racing, and doesn't bang around in the trucks for another 5 years. Honestly I hope he does whatever is best for him, but for selfish reasons I'd like to see him backing it in somewhere. I hope he does well at Duquoin. Anyone know what car he will be in?

I was told this morning that he will likely be running the Midget and Silver Crown cars at DuQuoin for Jack Yeley/Joe Dooling.

I'm certain this will be a good thing for JJ in the end. The only time this team ever sniffed victory in two years was when Terry Labonte did the Mobil economy run at Infineon last year and almost made it work.

JJ will probably get another ride in NASCAR and wind up with the likes of Jason Leffler and Mike Bliss, not superstars but able to pay the bills...

I for one hope that he gets offered another ride next year and some totally top of the line equipment then he will show everyone what he is capable of. I think he can handle the cars I just think he has not been given the equipment or the pit crew that would do what he needed. He has a proven record as a winner and I think he will come out on top no matter what happens.

He had top of line equipment in the Busch series for two years in the Gibbs 20 and could not produce. JJ is an decent driver but struggles in the heavy fendered cars. I doubt he gets a ride in the Cup side there is nothing out there. I see him in Nationwide or a Truck, maybe doesn't look good as there is not much out there!
