Hello everyone hope you are all safe and having a great day.

For anyone coming to the 2015 Kokomo Smackdown please make it a point to stop in at the HalfMoon Resturant & Brewery for the best food, service and atmosphere in Kokomo. The Moon is located on 931 (old U.S.31) just south of Lowes and North of I.H.O.P. As always Chris and his crew are glad to serve you, if you have a motorhome or a trailer please don't hesitate to park in the large lot or next to the resturant anyplace out of the way. The hours are 11 to 11Mon. thru Thur.Fri.& Sat. 11 to 12 Sunday 11 to 11, The Address is 4051 South Lafountain Street Kokomo IN. phone number is 1-765-455-2739 You can check them out on FaceBook at Halfmoon Resturant & Brewery, make sure you tell Chris or whoever takes care of you thanks for sponsoring the 66j of Josh Spencer ( with any luck he will be with us again in the 2016 season as things will be slower family wise and we can race more) The Moon as people will tell you is very family and racer friendly :)

Ice Cigerettes (spl) or snacks Woody's on the corner of North and Phylips street, from the track go south to the light (B&K) turn right (West)on Morgan go to the T at the stop sign turn left Morgan and Phylips ( South) go about three blocks Woody's is on the left at the corner. Now if you have followed the directions to Woody's you will notice at the T at Morgan and Phylips there is a large park thats open until 11 pm.

K'Mart MacDonalds, Subway Krogers Dairy Queen, Taco Bell and the woody's West location Leave the race track to the South turn Right at the light (Morgan & Davis B&K on the corner) go West to the T turn left (South, Northwesst park) go all the way to Sycamore Street /22 turn right at the light (West) take Sycamore West past Saint Joe Hospital ( it has a new name but I don't know it and don't want to :) everything is just West of the hospital. At the Corner of Dixon and Sycamore /22 there is a CVS/ WallGreens, if you turn right back North you will see everything you will need from beer and Wine to all kinds of food. Also a beer stop at the corner of Phylips and Jefferson, (Speedway gas station and Souplysbeer and wine) store. You can also turn right at this corner and head West to Krogers/ K'Mart and the back side of all the resturants.

If you need a carwash or oil change just to the East of Halfmoon Resturant & Brewery is Collescotts Mobil 1 on Center Road East of the Speedway Station.

Towing a jump or you locked your keys in your car, Ryans Wrecker and Recovery 1-765-271-7852 24 hours a day, Ryans son raceces Micros and sponsors Josh.

I know I have missed something but if you need anything don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for info Jerry,is there any road construction on 31 for us coming from the south to be concerned with? (we're pulling a 33'5th wheel)

A little around Westfield, nothing to worry about.

I'm not sure whether all the roads are open, but I always check my route using the Indiana road condition number at 1-800-261-7623. It takes a lot less time to do that than it does to take a detour when you find out that a section of a road is closed.

31 is a mess from 465 to Noblesville. However, as long as you are not in rush hour traffic it shouldn't be too bad. Near Westfield the right lane must exit, there is an electronic sign indicating the exit, just be careful not to get stuck in the exit lane. Also, some of you may come north on 421 but be aware it is closed at state road 32 just north of 465. You can get around the closure of the intersection of 421 and 32 by detouring east a couple of miles, then north until you pass 32, then get back on 421.

The good news is that the racing makes minor traffic issues bearable.

If people are looking for something to do Saturday before the Smackdown finale, the kids at the Kokomo Quarter Midget Club will be racing at noon Saturday. The track is about 10 minutes from Kokomo Speedway at 1198 Hillsdale Drive. Admission is free and concessions are good and cheap!.

Thanks for the info Jerry! I am staying at the Holliday Inn by Half Moon so I will stop by there. Jerry any suggestions on cab service? I know that 31 and 465 is a disaster! I am going out of my way to avoid it. Probably use 421.

Another thing to take note of. Kokomo and Howard county have been given money for extra police traffic patrols between now and Labor Day. They will looking for impaired drivers and seatbelt violations. Try to make sure you don't keep these people too busy.

As I said in My previous post, 421 is closed at state route 32. The official detour is 65 north to 47 east to 421. You can jog around the closure if you prefer to "explore" a bit.

I was planning on 47 to get past Westfield? Or even go further north before cutting across, thoughts? Thanks

This should work well. 47 is nice and wide getting into Sheridan however it narrows slightly on the other side. Just watch the little town of Bakers Corner just before getting to 31. Deputy likes to sit in this area and speed zone is 30 or 35mph. Tops!

If 47 seems a little narrow for you, next major road to intersect 421 will be 28, few miles north of Kirklin.

Both options get you to 31 past the construction. Safe travels!!

Leaving bright and early from MD Thursday morning..haven't missed a Smackdown show yet, may as well keep the streak alive! Staying at the Days Inn again..pretty convenient that it's right across the street from the Half Moon. :32:

Monday 12:10 sunny and in the 70s tonight calling for the 50s as the low same all week as far as the weather is concerned.No R@#$ in the forcast. I would bring a sweatshirt and jeans as it may be cool after dark.

Pleasee remember Kokomo does not drag there shows out and most of the time we are on the road very early.

Please be careful and have fun this week, if you can stop in and help us to sell the 2015 edition of the Josh Spencer Racing shirts still only $15 dollars at the trailer. :)

Clarification: I-65N is already closed at Lebanon. Be prepared to exit at 32 or 39. Both will run through town and intersect allowing you to use 39 to get to 47.

Now about this sudden ribs craving... :)

I've seen some really good local bands at sprint car races, but very few folks seem to pay attention.... where are all the music lovers???
I think blues/rock group at Cocopah last winter might have been the best... maybe 6 people watching

I believe I read on Kokomo's site there would be some live entertainment on Wednesday night afterwards as well.

Hi Brent as a Kokomo Local can you suggest a good Taxi company, and a rough idea on fair from Half Moon to the Speedway. Thinking of leaving the rental car at the track and just Taxi in / out.:32:

On a side note during Midget Week this year we watched a motorbike traffic cop, running the section of the 31 between the Shake N Shake and the next junction. He made a killing. He'd pull a driver going North, head up to the lights swing round and then pull a driver going south, down to the next lights and repeat. Sure the only reason he stopped was due to him running out of traffic violation slips !!

What kind of car count do they usually get for Smackdown?

I would expect a number between 35-40 (just a guess). Over the first 3 Smackdowns a number closer to 40 has been present on the opening night and as attrition takes its toll along with the qualifying rules for Saturday coming into effect the field dwindles slightly.

However IMO car count doesn't matter because the best NW drivers in the country will be there, at perhaps the finest 1/4 track in the world, it doesn't get any better.

Well the weather lady and she is a lovely lady at that has hit it on the head again, sunny and in the 70s with a breeze keeping things cooled down.

The rest of the week is calling for the same so if you are heading this way put a long sleeve shirt in your bag or make sure you stop in the gift shop and pick up a Kokomo Speedway sweatshirt.

Chris and his crew at the Halfmoon is stocked up and ready for the racing friends and family that will stop in to enjoy Kokomo Best food and drink, remember the Moon is family friendly with plenty of parking for big or small rigs. You can also enjoy the big screen with MAV-TV if you would like.

Not sure about cab service but am checking it out now.

Be safe and make sure you stop in and say hi at the 66j Josh Spencer / Halfmoon Racing trailer, keep in mind shirts are at the trailer for the low price of just $15 dollars. Bring the little ones over for a speciel suprise.

Only one cab company is interested in going out to the speedway Miami Cab 765 453 6504. They are planning on running a couple of extra cars this weekend.

Great Thanks for the Cab info, I checked them out on FB and they seem pretty progressive.

smackdown city is filling up nicely.lots of campers.awesome

Can't make it tonight but will be there tomorrow. Definitely going to stop by half moon again this year, can't wait!!!

Is the Wednesday make up show only running the B main & feature ? Or is it a whole show ?
