Going out on a limb here and picking Cottle heat 1, Brady Short heat 2, Jerry Coons Jr heat 3, and Ballou heat 4. Should be some really good racing with how these heats are lined up.

Glad to hear he is ok.

cmiracingvids 8/14/15 9:34 PM

Well...now a lengthy delay to check Luke out. I know he got out on his own...but now they're checking him over in the ambulance.

cmiracingvids 8/14/15 9:38 PM

Word is he's quite woosy...so he'll take a trip to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

Kevin Huntley wins the 305 Sprint Car feature, and then announces his full retirement from racing after winning his first feature here at Bloomington in 1986

Re: Bloomington MSCS updates

Wow what a race so far. 13 in, Coons leads a hard charging Ballou, Stanbrough and Brady Short from ninth. You can throw a blanket over the top five

Chris Nunn 8/14/15 10:29 PM

Re: Bloomington MSCS updates

Caution on lap 16. In just three laps, Ballou takes the lead, stanbrough takes second, Brady Short takes third, Coons falls back to fourth. Its getting crazy out here!

Re: Bloomington MSCS updates

HOLY CRAP! Ballou catches the cushion and spins!! Collects Stanbrough who was running second! Brady Short now leads!!

Re: Bloomington MSCS updates

Shane Cottle and Jerry Coons Jr led the MSCS Sprint Car field to the green in their 30 lap main event. The initial start was called back due to Donny Bracket looping his car in turn two. Coons would lead the first lap after the restart with Cottle second. Robert Ballou and Bracket got together battlling for third, with Brackett losing numerous positions. Jon Stanbrough was the car on the move, having caught the top three cars of Coons, Cottle, and Ballou. Ballou attepted a slide job for second, but fell short. Ballou took second from Cottle, as Stanbrough and Brady Short got around him as well. You could throw a blanket over the top five as the caution flew for Matt McDonald in turn four, ending the 13 lap green flag run. On the restart, Ballou threw a slide job on Coons for the lead. Stanbrough then nosed ahead of Coons for second on lap 15. Brady Short then took third away from Coons on lap 16. The caution flew for the second time on lap 17, as Brackett slowed to a stop in turn four. When racing resumed, Ballou pulled out to a five car advantage over Stanbrough. Stanbrough, however, had Short all over him for second. Disaster then struck Ballou, as he caught the cushion coming out of turn four, and spun, collecting the second place running car of Stanbrough. This chain of events gave the lead to Short with just ten laps to go. Short took off on the restart and immediately built a half straight lead. Quietly sneaking into the top three, was Jordan Kinser who had gotten around Cottle for the third position from his 16th starting spot. The caution flew once again on lap 23, as Stephen Taylor stopped in turn four. On the restart, the caution flew once again. With six to go, the green flew for the restart. A three wide battle for second took place between Coons, Cottle, and Kinser, with Coons taking the spot over Cottle. Up front, it was all Short, who picked up the win over Coons, Cottle, Kinser, and McGhee

Dave was never really a factor tonight. Probably somewhere south of 8th or 9th. Never really got the car going tonight, had Briscoe not detonated an engine leading the B with a few to go he may not have made the feature.

Re: Bloomington MSCS updates

There were just so many twists and turns in this one. Jerry Coons jumped out to the lead, with Shane Cottle and Robert Ballou in tow. Brady Short, who started 11th quickly started moving through the top ten from the drop of the green. Ballou battled with Cottle and took second with an aggressive slider about ten laps in. Then, a few laps later, after a yellow, Ballou went after Coons and took the lead with another aggressive move. Short was all the way up to fourth at this point and was definitely on the hunt. Shane had lost a few spots and Brady would soon take third away from Coons. So you had Ballou building a lead and Jon Stanbrough in second, being stalked by Short. With half the race still left. And those two would slowly start to close in on the leader and Brady definitely had Jon in his sights by this point. For three laps in a row, he made several runs for the runnerup spot, starting to attempt sliders going into turn three, but backed off when there wasn't room to clear Jon. And that's when the race's biggest twist of fate occurred. With the lead, Robert went over the ledge in between turns three and four and when he attempted to recover from that he came back over the berm in turn four and spun. And Jon was in the wrong place at the wrong time and just had nowhere to go. He got collected and his great run was over. That turn of events left Brady Short with the lead. He would have less than ten laps to hold off Coons, Cottle, Jordan Kinser (who had started in the 8th row!) and Max McGhee. Kinser was up for the challenge and would spent the remainder of the race swapping positions with Shane and making runs at Jerry, for second place. In the last 5 laps or so, Jordan's valiant effort was the most riveting thing coming down to the finish. He would bobble in turn two with a couple of laps left and would fall to fourth. If you look the box score for this one, his finishing position doesn't reflect the performance he put in, tonight. Also, you have to feel bad for Jon Stanbrough. Because he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and was out of a race he had a chance to win, through no fault of his own. And for Robert. He had the lead at the one track he's never won at and just made a mistake, an unforced error, while leading. And to a lesser degree, Brady Short. With the two leaders out, he kind of breezed to the victory. Had Robert and Jon been able to stay in the race, Short had a chance to cap a great run, with a spectacular win. At the halfway point, this one had a feel to it like it was going to end up a late race showdown between Ballou, Short and Stanbrough. It didn't turn out that way, but the battle for second between Jerry, Shane and Jordan was such a great one. Nobody left thinking they didn't get their money's worth, tonight.

Jerry
