Terre Haute Action Track Geared Up For USAC Sprint Show
USAC Sprint Cars Visit This Wednesday Night

The USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car tour is in the midst of another exciting Indiana Sprint week. Two of the seven events are completed with only a makeup race at Kokomo before the anticipated return to the Terre Haute Action Track this coming Wednesday night, July 15.

Sprint week began on Friday night at Gas City I-69 Speedway with Chase Stockon besting a field of 46 cars to claim the victory. 46 cars were at Kokomo Speedway on Saturday night, but the event was interrupted by rain during the semi and the rest of the night was postponed to Monday. On Sunday night, Brady Bacon won his first ever Indiana Sprint week show at Lawrenceburg.

The 28th Annual Indiana Sprint week visit at Terre Haute’s Action Track should be a thriller. With fields averaging 40+ over the first few events, a strong group of drivers will converge on the historic facility Wednesday night for the mid-point of the annual festivities.

The USAC Sprint week show at Terre Haute is a main attraction in the grandstands at the Vigo County Fair, which started Sunday, July 12 and runs through Saturday, July 18. Race teams will have to enter from the backside of facility by turning right on Johnson, left on Union, and left on Fairgrounds Drive, as the main driveway through the fairgrounds will be filled with vendors. Fans will still enter the on the front side of the fairgrounds and parking will be free before 4:00, while the fair charges a nominal $5 parking fee after 4:00. Get there early to check out all that the fair has to offer, including some great food.

Pit gates open Wednesday at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, hotlaps at 6:30, qualifying at 7:00, and racing will begin at 7:30. Grandstand admission is $25, infield admission is $15, and children 10 and under are free.

Curious to know why the Mods were left off the card this time? (if we are priviliaged to that) Aren't they always with the sprints for every show?

The infield is great tonight as they mowed the grass and no Skeeter's.

I walked out of there last night not remembering if I ever heard of Aaron Farney??? I stopped at a gas station on the way back north and 3 guys came in with Aaron Farney shirts on and we had a nice conversation standing in our stall. They said he was from Brookston, only a hour from me. Can anyone tell what his background is?

hungthrottlepodcast 7/16/15 9:52 AM

I had never heard of him before last night either. Impressive run, he crushed the competition. He had a huge smile on his face after the race.

He's 19 years old and has been racing since he was 4. Second year in sprint cars, but this is his first full season. Robert Ballou is his mentor and helps set up the car.

Mitch was also the 2002 MSCS Champion

Came out of mmsa lightning sprints which are 1000cc upright sprints and are the same size as a full midget and use all the same components... only difference is chain drive. Farney was very good in his lightning sprint and is showing major improvement in sprint car as we all could see.

I parked across the street at the Harley dealer and had to pay $5 to walk into the place just like I was a car full of people. A buck or two I could understand but I thought it was a raw deal. The money is nothing, just didn't understand the reasoning as I didn't park on the fairgrounds.

He's pretty good

I said last year after seeing him a couple times early that Farney would win a big race when nobody's expecting it. Think they ran into some backing problems the rest of the year because he wasn't as strong as early.

Then this year. Katy bar the door. Hooking up with Ballou. He's been knocking all year on that door and finally broke through.
