Midget/Mini Sprint race at Union County Speedway JUly 10th
July 10th, $700 to win $100 to start
|
Bear....have you reached out to any owners personally?
|
What series is this?
|
Just to be clear the Union County Speedway is advertising this race as "Montpelier Midgets". We do NOT have any affiliation with the track, procedures, or payouts. To the best of our knowledge they are using our rule package, but again the Montpelier Speedway is not involved with this race.
Good luck to everyone that competes this Friday. Originally Posted by zeromotorsports: |

Leaders edge, i have talked to the track owner at union county over the weekend and he working on the track to have it ready for Friday. Johnny this is not a sanctioned race. union county had stopped at my shop and we talked about putting a midget race together there and I told him that he should follow the rules at Montpelier because they get good car count and he decided on payout. Brian the owner is wanting to sit down with Harold and try to work something out next year like what you guys did with Gas City.
|
Who are you? Not sure what kinda car count you expect on short notice. Montpelier has worked very hard over several years for their success.

Bear's been posting about this on Facebook for about a month and a half and Union County's had it on their schedule for a month now; I don't know what kind of other promotion has been done or what kind of response there's been for sure, but I plan on making it down there if the weather doesn't screw things up...:31:

Can't be nothing but good for Midget racing in the Mid West. I am for making some sort of rule to allow the older Midget motors but rule out any motors with up dates on them less than 5 years old. I would also like to see a real right rear tire rule to even things up a little.
Racing is not all about speed >>>>I would rather watch a race just a little slower when the racers stay 3 wide the whole race> rather than a race that looks like a super fast freight train. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |

Re: Midget/Mini Sprint race at Union County Speedway JUly 10
I have nothing against the current trend to try to establish a uniform "D-II" rules package or whatever it ends up being called (other than having to lobby to get my old crate grandfathered in, but that's another subject) but I find it interesting that Brian & Harold seem to have hit on something that is working, right now, and they continue to draw excellent fields (given the current climate) and put on some great racing while continually making improvements to the facility. All of this is being accomplished with a low-key, "Run watcha brung" attitude that doesn't require someone to conform to an overly-complex set of statutes. Is it perfect? No. Does a guy like me stand a chance of winning in the equipment I have? No; at my current state of driving ability I couldn't win in a Kunz Toyota but accomplished shoes like Chet Gehrke and the Liguoris have been competitive in "lesser" equipment on a given night. Besides, there's a certain satisfaction to driving well enough to make the main against the bigger guns and the payout for just getting in the show ain't half bad. I support the efforts of everyone who's working on growing the D-II platform but I also want to say thanks to Bear and the promoters at Union County for giving us another option on an off week at MMS.

Re: Midget/Mini Sprint race at Union County Speedway JUly 10
Jim thank you for supporting this. Union County is doing this race not to interfere with Montpeliers schedule. if car count is decent then possibly will have a few more this year. I am just a messenger and have no affiliation with Union County other than knowing the owner. just trying to help him get the word out and give us guys a place to run when off from Montpelier. if anyone has question regarding this feel free to call me.
