BOSS - Legendary Lima/L'Burg Weekend

BOSS Prepares For Legendary Doubleheader

The word "legendary" is often overused. In the case of this weekends Mo Vaughn Transport / BOSS doubleheader, the word fits. The very definition of legendary (1. of, described in, or based on legends 2. remarkable enough to be famous, very well known) describes both facilities that are set to host the tour.

Auto racing first began at the site of Limaland Speedway in the late 1930's and operated for many decades under the name "Allentown Speedway". The track has seen the likes of Ferkel, Hewitt, Dawson and hundreds more famous names in the annals of the sport. On the other hand, Lawrenceburg Speedway can trace its racing roots back to 1910 when auto racing first began at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds. The current track has existed since 1950 and has hosted many famous last names as well like Gaines, Gilstrap, Vogler, and the list goes on.

This Friday and Saturday night, the stars and cars of the MVT / BOSS series hope to add to the long legacy of both facilities. Following 2 rainouts, the tour finally opened the 2015 season at Mercer Raceway Park in Pennsylvania on May 23rd with 30 cars on hand. Local driver Brandon Matus scored the upset win in what became a survival test on the tricky 3/8 mile surface.

Defending BOSS champion "The Magic Man" Mike Miller will lead the series regulars into battle for the weekend after finishing 3rd at Mercer. Tour newcomers Cooper Clouse and Kent Wolters scored impressive top 5 finishes in the opener and appear to be legitimate threats to steal the title. Brandon Spithaler appeared to be on his way to his 3rd Mercer BOSS win when mechanical troubles bit him. No less than 20 drivers are aiming for the 2015 championship and this weekends events will play a key role in determining who stays in the running.

At Limaland, gates will open at 4:30 pm on Friday. Pit passes are just $25 with adult general admission just $12. Hot laps will be at 6:15 and racing will begin at 7 pm. There will be NO FUEL sales available at Limaland. Transponders will be available for rent for $10. Cars will NOT be required to run mufflers. After the event, teams and fans are welcome to use the series hotel deal at the Lima, Ohio Howard Johnson Hotel. Ask for the racer's rate of $63 when you call 419-222-0004.

On Saturday, Lawrenceburg Speedway gates will open at 4 pm with hot laps at 6 and racing at 7 pm. Fuel will be available and mufflers ARE REQUIRED on all cars. Any muffler or muffler insert is acceptable. Transponders will be free of charge. Pit Passes will be $30 with general admission $15 for adults while 12 and under is free of charge.

The Mo Vaughn Transport / BOSS sprints welcome everyone out to be part of a legendary weekend. We also extend a special thanks to all our many sponsors who make the BOSS series what it is with many bonus awards and extra heat race money. Those sponsors include: Moose Racing of Anaheim, California, Lias Tire / American Racer and Indiana, Pennsylvania, Hoosier Racing Tire, Buckeye Machine and Fab of Forest, Ohio, FAST Signs of Dayton, Ohio, Kistler Engines of Fremont, Ohio, Cowen Trucking of Perrysville, Ohio, The Bridge Restaurant of Sidney, Ohio, Lynn Cook of Dayton, Ohio, Hochstetlet Truck and Auto Repair of Ashland, Ohio, A Plus Automatic Transmission of Mansfield, Ohio, Apple Metal polishing of Eldorodo, Ohio, Design 500 of Seattle, Washington, and Southeast Harley Davidson of Cleveland, Ohio. No. He was trying to get into the redraw spot. He's a good guy and a tough racer.

T. Mez wins easy. Moffatt 4th, Westerfeld 7th, idk any of the other drivers.

treecitytornado 6/7/15 3:26 AM

Hey Jazz,
Pete Abel doesn't race Sprint Cars anymore. His son is Drew and is a good driver, spelled, Abel.

Thanks for the updates.

JazzTrombonist 6/7/15 3:32 PM

Lol sorry. I can't believe I did that. Brain freeze, I guess.

Thanks for the correction.

Sorry but had to reply to this comment - "all about the redraw with BOSS"

T-Mez drew the 8 both Friday and Saturday and won them both. With non wing racing- passing is possible. The redraw is the only reason the fans got to see as much passing for the lead as they did.

Re: BOSS - Legendary Lima/L'Burg Weekend

& they should know coming in that there is no 0, 2 or 4 in that draw only 6, 8 or 10 & that is not for just BOSS it should be any & every series.

Need at least 2 more shows at Limaland !!!!!!!!!!!!!

treecitytornado 6/10/15 10:22 AM

Certain tracks like Lima and The Burg as easier to pass on when you start deep too. Depends on track conditions too. It is not all black and white! Winged or Non-Winged! The right track, track conditions, and a mixture of drivers of different experience levels; then you have passing! For instance; at Haubstadt Saturday; I started deep and gained 4 spots and the most anyone gained was 5 and that was the winner, who has a ton of experince there. It was a case of a great track and closely matched competition.

cjm3535 6/10/15 11:28 AM

My comment was to the fact that in the heat race you almost have to be in the top two to have a chance in the feature. Thus why Joss was racing hard for the second spot so he could be in the front half of the feature.
