Re: Lincoln Park Speedway - 5/23 - MSCS Sprints Tonight!

The feature was really a tale of three races, within the race. First off T-Mez took off like a scalded cat and just left everybody, while Robert Ballou was the early aggressor working his way quickly through the top ten. When he did a slider on Brent Beuchamp to take over second place, you knew it was on and he steadily reeled in the leader. When he finally caught Meseruall, they exchanged the lead multiple times before Ballou pulled away and began to check out. After a number of laps Robert was running over the ledge as he was exiting turn two and T-Mez was nailing that exit and little by little it was obvious he was tracking the leader down. When he caught him they had a short, but furious exchange for the lead with a little bit of contact on the final crossover and Meseraull dominated from that point on. Ballou gave it everything he had, but came closer to becoming victim to a late surging Jon Stanbrough then he did ever regaining the top spot. The other subplot to this race was Brandon Mattox. He had finished third in the B-Main, so he had started in the last row. Every time you look back through the field, Mattox had passed several cars. When they got to the last yellow he was 6th or 7th. He finished 5th, but made an aggressive move at the checker and almost took 4th away from Dave Darland. T-Mez was the man tonight, but Brandon Mattox was definitely one of the co-stars. Another real good LPS show, with a real big crowd and as usual things moved along quickly. And it was the second week in a row that Thomas Meseraull led a race, lost the lead, looked like might all might be lost, regrouped and came storming back. Last week at Gas City he almost pulled off the comeback. This week he did. And you're just not going to see a driver any happier to have won, than what that guy was. It's been a very good year for him.

Jerry
