Anyone else having problems w IOW?

When I click on the top item in the forum, I get sent to a blank page with a box in the middle that says, "UPDATES RECOMMENDED! It is recommended that you install the software to insure your software and browser is the latest version." The box has only an OK button. I know this is some kind of scam; I am not going to click that button. Then, when I try to shut the browser, I get the box that makes me click "Leave Page" in order to continue.

Have for a couple days now. Wants you to download something. DON'T DO IT!

Its not the first time I've had problems but first in awhile. Some script or something on the site is sending us there.

I've had the same problem for the last few days. I thought it strange that it only happens on IOW. I even downloaded a malware removal utility and ran it. Still have the problem. I closed the CHROME browser and started IE. No problem when using IE. If you are using CHROME and find a fix please post it. I would like to get back to using CHROME.

Thanks

I access this page through a direct link too, and I've been having the same issue. Firefox on a Mac.

The problem seems to be gone today. Did someone do something?

Mrs G,
Are you running the show now? If so, its been a pretty smooth transition...I mean from a members perspective.
Thank you!

Running the show? I wouldn't say that.;) I'm just trying to keep the board running in memory of my husband and all the hard work he put into it.

I'm getting it tonight for the first time, I'd say it's not fixed

Re: Anyone else having problems w IOW?

I have not had it with IOW, but was having it tonight on Hoseheads. I would guess that one of the ads is causing the issue.

team3521 1/30/15 12:43 AM

Thank you Mrs G!
We all appreciate your efforts. There is no other website I'd rather belong to.
I'm sure Bill is looking down from heaven with pride.

Thank you Mrs G, I only got to meet Bill one time at LPS, but after following this site for so long I considered him a friend and he would be proud of the continuation of the site. Thank you for giving all of us a place to gather.

Re: Anyone else having problems w IOW?

I hate it that this is happening to so many users....but then again I have to admit I am kind of happy that it isn't just me. Been having this particular "software update needed" crap crash my viewing for about 2 weeks now... before that the site was frequently locking up with a shockwave thing popping up... that part was probably an issue on my end. I assumed this new software update crap was an issue in my PC as well but now I guess it's not. I am also using google chrome.

Re: Anyone else having problems w IOW?

Started happening to me tonight as well. Also while I am here, my mouse curser always acts like something is still trying to load. This is the only website it has happened on. But, once I got off the main page, it quit.

fasster23 2/2/15 1:08 AM

I only use my iPad and never have a problem. Hoseheads on the other hand...
