I"m curious if they are still going to charge $35 for a child ticket for the Outlaw show? I hope they take a step back and rethink this pricing strategy. Kids are future race fans and will populate the seats long after their parents are gone. The track can make the money on the kids at the concession stand and souvenier stand and keep the young fan involved without emptying the parent's wallet. I would probably still spend $35, but my kid will feel more invovled with the experience of the race.

I saw a family of 3(grandfather, father and grandson) walk away last year from the ticket window after they were told they had to pay full price for a 8yr old. Don't blame them, but what a crying shame that three generations couldnt come together and watch the race. This is what racing is about. Its a family sport and it's totally generational as I'm a third generation fan/racer and my son is a fourth generation.

If this pricing policy is in place I will likely stay home and not have to explain to my 5 yr old why we aren't going to see his favorite driver, Donny Schatz, race that night. Instead it will cost them more than the reduced price of kids ticket.

I believe its woo that charges 35 or what not. Does the world of outlaws rent the track for the event?

No, WoO doesn't promote this show and they only promote the shows of the tracks in which they own..ala Lernerville. It used to be SLS, but last year it was Lawrenceburg themselves unless the ticket being inked with Lawrenceburg Speedway was misleading.

Tracks do what they have to do to stay in business and you still get a lot of bang for your entertainment buck. Especially when you compare it with other forms of entertainment out there. Try going to the movie theatre sometime. In two hours that's all over and the concession stand is twice as expensive. And it's not nearly as exciting. Budget your money a little different or work a few extra hours. Whatever sacrifice you have to make, it'll be worth it. Plus, it looks like gas will be a little cheaper this year. So that should help.

Most of these track operators are working their asses off and I don't see any of them getting rich. Some are barely hanging on. Most are just doing what they have to do to get by.

The tracks having a WoO show, Huge risk, They're doing what they feel they have to do. You have a choice to go or not.
I seen advanced tickets at 30 so right off the bat your exaggerating.

Wow, A track that gives race clubs, vets, dr's and nurses, locals, scouts etc a free night or more than one gets all kinds of flack over one race that absolutely can't afford to lose on..

No, It's not cheap, Take them three nights you get in free with HARF or whatever and your still ten bucks ahead.

They don't own Bloomington and co-promoted last year's show.

dsc1600 1/16/15 9:38 PM

They do joint ventures with certain promoters, rent tracks from certain promoters and use sls as well.

There are also weekday purses and weekend/holiday purses. Burgs is a weekend purse. THAT, KOKOMO Weekday
I think TSS is weekend as well.

Bloomington didn't schedule WoO for 2015 and normally won't run non Fri nights so, I think it was a KING thing last year.

Unfortunately, $35 has been the price for a WoO Sprint show for many tracks for the last year. If I remember correctly, Kokomo was $35 for reserved seating ($30 for GA) and Terre Haute was $35 for grandstand seating last year. Promotors take a huge risk for a WoO show. While the reward can be significant, so can the losses.

The best thing you can do as a business is to make money. I never once had issue with the price I'm being charged. I"m fine with it.
Clearly they made money last year or they wouldn't have brought them back this year, right? This year will be the telling factor since this isn't the King's farewell tour. This show went dark a few years ago if you remember because it had become poorly attended and I'm sure the promoter took a bath, which at that time was SLS, I believe.

I'm not exaggerating the price. It was $35 for a reserved ticket last year. Yes, they say its $30 and then you have a $5 upcharge to sit in the covered grandstand. So where am I exaggerating? Did you even go last year? Probably not or you would know what I'm referencing.

I will sit this show out and take him to two shows at Eldora instead where it will only cost me $4 for him, which is the cost of his reserved seat to sit in the grandstand because he is FREE because he is 5. I'll still end up spending $20 to take him once we go to the concession stand and the souvenir trailers.

I'm not asking for free admission at all, but a reduced rate is fair and it fosters the next generation of fan, which creates a return customers and increased revenue stream for the future, which as a business you must always be concerned of your future growth and revenue streams, which in racing is a family and generational situation more so than any other ala... Dave Despain's comments last night about the Wilke Pak team.

If you know anything about Marketing 101.......Its cheaper to retain a customer than it is to acquire a new one. Its a 80% cheaper, do the math. I think I will sit this show out, which will cost the promoter way more than the reduction of a kids ticket. Now, who loses?

WoO might work with tracks and selected groups such as SLS, but they are not promoters and I'm sure their risk is minimal to say the least. The Bloomington deal was a no brainer(Steve's so called last race @ Bloomington) and I'm sure if it wasn't for Bernie being the front man on it that deal wouldn't have happened. Hence the '15 schedule doesn't have Bloomington or Terre Haute.

At the end of the day the promoter can do what they want and I'll vote with my dollars.

Facts...World of Outlaws Show is $35 for Reserved seating, reserved seating is the main grandstand on front stretch. The rest of seating is $30 for adults. Kids 7-12 $7 and 6 and under are free. FYI we have more general admission seating than reserved seating on that show. In my opinion, the best seats in the house are in turn 2 in the general admission area. See ya all soon! Think Spring!

How about bringing back the Hoosier Classic?

Hoosier Fall Classic!

Re: Lawrenceburg (IN) Speedway: 2015 Schedule now posted.

If you want the perfect Hoosier Fall Classic you could marry up the WoO, NSL(which Tod has said they are coming east late in the fall), AllStars/Renegades or whatever they are going to be since it appears Smoke has purchased them.

The date that works is October 17th.

This date is open for all parties. Everybody wants one last race, why not here and why not all these guys. It would be retro back to the mid 80's when this race really mattered and paid well.

Remember when Jeff Gordon flew in and drove the #47 for Butch Smith as a teammate to Kelly Kinser in '84?
