Jacksonville Speedway 5/15 Change

Having already sold some advance tickets to some people in Indiana, I thought you should know a semi-important change to this show. From our Facebook page:

"Based on recently published comments that were degrading to certain drivers with a long and rich tradition of supporting Jacksonville Speedway, we just informed the leadership of the All Star Circuit of Champions that they will no longer be co-sanctioning our May 15th Sprints Gone Wild event at Jacksonville Speedway.

This should not affect the quality of the show in any significant respect as we will still be paying $5,000 to win and will still have both the National Sprint League and MOWA sanction along with the participation of some additional big name drivers we hope to announce shortly. Among those who have confirmed their plans to attend that are not aligned with either sanction is Danny Smith, who was the subject of the comments in question.

If you have already purchased a ticket to this event and this change affects your desire to attend, we will gladly refund your ticket purchase if you contact Ken Dobson at 217-371-3653.

Thank you for your understanding."

Simply amazing how much of an idiot Guy Webb is. Class move by Jacksonville. Don't know what Guy is going to do with his only star over 50. He just needs to sell out and go away.

Looks like Dale Blaney is letting Guy Webb have it on Twitter

Jim,

Bert Emick I believe, not Emge.

I think this is the right call by Jacksonville. Guy Webb's comments were uncalled for and off base. The guys he called out have been a big part of sprint car racing for a long time and I hope to see all of them at this race in May.

I think he is driving it into ground quicker than a Malaysian pilot.

Flatout, that would be funny if 162 people weren't dead.

Sorry FRR, first thing that came to mind, not meant to offend. I get it, too soon given the latest accident. I was thinking more along the lines of the missing plane.

Maybe someone should have told Guy to turn left at the iceberg. No matter how you look at it, he has taken a once great series of the Midwest and driven it into the ground. It would be a great case study post mortim for any business student

That sounds more like it; I remember the Emick name. Don't pay much attention to winged sanctioning bodies, although I've attended several All Star races over the years.

For what it's worth Bert's wife was Brigette. Believe they retired to Florida. They both worked hard keeping that series growing and going.

With a lot of help from Rick Nichols, Chuck Fuller and his wife.

If Rick had been able to take over this series when Bert and Bridget retired I don't think we'd be having this conversation.
