Florida Midget Winternationals

Just got off the phone with Jason McCord of USAC....HOW MANY MIDGETS and Lightning Sprints can I count on coming for this 3 day show? This can become a yearly event if it is supported. Last year the weather was shorts and Tees the entire week. Will be working on sponsorship and payout as 600/800/1200 to win....I will be sharing this but please reply here or on FB ...

Wayne, I am sure I have read the answer to this, but I can't remember. Are these going to be at Ocala the same dates as the USAC National Sprints or somewhere/sometime else? Sorry.

Florida's Midget Nationals
2015
Press release 10/31/14:

As the fall starts to wind down and winter begins to creep into the picture all around the U.S., it's still sunny and warm here in the sunshine state, just the way it will be come the middle of Feb. Florida, the place you want to be in Feb. with all the racing going on from the end of Jan. to the end of Feb. Whether it is dirt, pavement, late models, sprints, modified's, TQ's, minis or micros, they all race in Florida every year for the winternationals, except the Midgets/1000cc Lightning Sprints. After taken a two year hiatus they will be back again this year and they get to do it again. Bubba’s Raceway Park down in Ocala, Florida is going to change that and they will get their chance again.

Wayne Davis's Southern States Midget Series is teaming up with several of the other midget/lightning sprint series across Tx., Ok., The Midwest, Mo., Ill., In. and Ohio along with a couple of groups in the NE. as the Southern States Midget Series will play host for the midgets that will run on the same card as the USAC sprint cars starting Feb. 18-21. This will be the 6th year in a row for the USAC sprints to come to Fl. and always puts on a show leaving fans wanting more. This year there will get it, a double header of sprints and midgets. Yes these are full midgets with just a little different power plant in them.

The SSMS has already gotten several commitments from teams from all over the nation and Canada. Many others state that are very interested in coming and with the price of fuel going down along with a very hard winter expected up north come Feb. most all will need a much needed break from the snow to come visit the sunshine state wearing their favorite racing tee, with shorts and flip flops.

Mr. Davis is working hard for sponsorship and contingencies for this event. Anyone that wants to participate or sponsor this event, more details can be found on the SSMS website www.sssprints.com or you can call Mr. Davis direct at (904) 803-3255 if you have any more questions. Hope to see ya at the track in shorts and a tee shirt come February. Remember BRP allows FREE camping and 4 wheels/golf carts on their property for ALL events. Just another saving for you the racer to come and enjoy your racing vacation.
