Smack down

Question about Saturday. With tonight's events raining out will one ticket get you in at 2 Saturday and get kind of a two for one deal? Heard they were going to clear the grandstands after the completion of the make up races. Just curious.

I would imagine that they will sweep both the grandstands and the pits between the shows. . .

What if you can't make it back Saturday? Just out $25??

Let us know what response your friend gets because when we asked the owner what our options were because we cant make it back to the track Friday or Saturday he asked us why we bothered buying a ticket . Good luck

Re: Smack down

I think we've all been bitten at one point or another, But this is from the Kokomo Website, The first part from the Schedule Page. The second from the Track Info page. It's been there long before people ever bought a ticket.

Kokomo Speedway reserves the right to change the schedule at any time without notice.

The rain check policy is as follows: If the halfway point in the program (heat races) has been completed, rain checks will NOT be issued. If the halfway point has not been completed, rain checks will be honored at forthcoming regular programs. NO CASH REFUNDS. Rained-out features will be run the following week, before the evening’s heat races.

captrat 8/22/14 3:29 PM

I am continually amazed at the number of "fans" who do not seem understand the long-standing rain check policy which is common to almost all tracks. None of us like rainouts, etc. but it is sort of a situation where it is best to be informed and buyer beware. I have only flown 1200 miles and driven another 1000 to be here and find nothing wrong or inconsistent with typical past and fair practices.

flagboy55 8/22/14 5:27 PM

I have no problem with the policy other than i was only able to be here on Thursday. Honestly with what i was able to watch before the monsoon, i don't really feel cheated. That said i can make it to next Sundays race and would love to be able to use my ticket toward that. Does anyone know of that's an option?

It could be the track that does not seem to understand there rain check policy. As Mr. Nungester nicely copied from there website, here is the policy:

The rain check policy is as follows: If the halfway point in the program (heat races) has been completed, rain checks will NOT be issued. If the halfway point has not been completed, rain checks will be honored at forthcoming regular programs. NO CASH REFUNDS. Rained-out features will be run the following week, before the evening’s heat races.

Obviously the heat races were not over so the first part of the policy doesn't apply. The second part seems more applicable for Thursdays show. The halfway point was not completed (heat races were not over) so according to the tracks own policy, rain checks will be honored at forthcoming regular programs. So for the track to mandate your rain check has to be used for the 2nd half of a rained out show 2 days later seems inconsistent with there own policy. Maybe I'm missing something?? Maybe I'm not a "fan"??

Now I realize I paid $25 for my ticket and if they honored it for a regular program, it would then be worth much less but at least I would be able to see a complete program instead of just 2 heat races. Unfortunately, Saturday doesn't fit into my schedule (only Thursday and Friday did), so I guess I'm out $25. But hey, I got to see 2 heat races. Not much I can do about it. The tracks make the rules and we have to follow them.

I've been to a rainout that had 1heat completed . They deemed it to be halfway through the program and offered nothing. I still go to the track but only for sprint specials. I figure its buyer beware.

Re: Smack down

i have found this to work, At most tracks. Send the ticket. With a self addressed stamped envelope. And a note. Policy doesn't say no refunds. Just no cash.

Motormasher 8/23/14 9:25 AM

Not refunding money is BULLS#!+...if it rains out give the money back! You didn't get to see what you were promised or where paying to see.
That's why I don't even try to go to tracks more than 2 hours away.
Granite City got me 1 year and that was the only 2 times i ever got screwed.

Re: Smack down

So all you guys that are out $25 !!!!
How much do you think the track has lost on the rain out????

dirt in ur beer 8/23/14 9:43 AM

Hard to b a "hard core" race fan if u limit ur viewing area below 2 hrs. It doesn't matter where u live ! We know the risk we run when we head out . We always have a back up plan.

Re: Smack down

For those of you who can't make it back to the Saturday make-up show could "pay it forward" by giving someone else the ticket to enjoy the rest of the races. Sometimes we need to think of others and not only ourselves.

Come on guys. It's motormasher. What were you expecting? An insightful post? If I saw that I would notify local authorities, to report to them that his IOW account had been hacked.:5:

Remember 5 O'clock Charlie on M*A*S*H? Motormasher's kind of like our 5 O'clock Charlie.

What rain out are you referring too? Apparently Thursday night wasn't a rain out as they decided to violate there own rain out policy so they must be calling it something else. You must mean the half of show we saw on Thursday that got moved to this afternoon for some reason other than a "rain out" As far as I can see, they haven't lost any money from that. They have every single penny from Thursday night in their pocket. They lost $0. In the business world, you lose money when your revenue is less than your expenses. Now if Kokomo didn't have enough paying fans on Thursday, then they lost money but I don't see how that has anything to do with a rain out. The rain out happened half way through the show and I'm sure everyone that was planning on attending the show was already there and Kokomo go there $25 (which they still have). Could the weather have affected the attendance....quite possibly it kept it lower. But again, to say they lost money because of a rain out is quite absurd. Your theory seems quite off base.

So that exempts them from their rain out policy? Would have they changed the show without the rain? Nope. I'm quite certain that little blurb is not for situations like this and does not make there rain out policy obsolete.

Could you imagine if on a perfectly sunny day, half way through the heat races, the track announces, we have decided to post pone the 2nd half of tonight's show 2 days. You must come back or you lose your ticket. I'm sure everyone would support that. That's essentially what they did on Thursday but they did it because of RAIN, which apparently exempts them from there rain out policy.

I'm done. The track made there decision. I went back last night and still supported them. You win some and you lose some. They can have my $25.

Re: Smack down

I get it and Im not trying to stir drama. I think a arm band from a rained out show should get you into a future race.

The thing with this weekend is most have the three day ticket and the purse from sat night is somewhat supported by the other two shows, Yeah, they'd probably make $$ on the sat program alone.

The people with the three day show tickets are out nothing but the thursday only that is not a rainout that can't make it back. I get it.

PIT CART 8/23/14 12:59 PM

So if it rains out tonight your ticket is only good for the Sunday make up date right. Not saying its going to rain but the people I am going with don't understand that.
