HUGE POWRi Doubleheader Aug 15-16 Lincoln/Macon

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...6820530eeaca8a

A HUGE weekend of racing on the bullrings will accompany the great racing that will be seen next weekend on the Springfield Mile with the USAC Racing Silver Crown Series, ARCA RACING SERIES, and Sportsman Nationals. A HUGE Lucas Oil POWRi Midget and Speedway Motors POWRi Micro Sprint Double Header is that weekend as well. Friday night. August 15th the lightning fast midgets will be at Lincoln Speedway. Then Saturday night, the cars and stars of POWRi, plus possibly some of the same drivers in USAC Silver Crown competition earlier that day, come to tame the 1/5 mile high banks here at Macon Speedway. Mark your calendars for these AS WELL as the great action on the mile.

Definitely plan on BOTH shows. The Saturday double is always a treat. Hitting the infield briefly for the victory lane stuff and a quick walk through the pits after the Silver Crown show before hauling east/southeast to Macon for what will be a GREAT nightcap. Lincoln Friday will be a fun way to get things rolling as well.

What does the average POWRi show pay to win? $2000?

wildman92 8/5/14 10:13 PM

We plan to hit up Lincoln on Friday and the silver crown race on Saturday. Can't stay for Macon which is a bummer because I love that track.

The Illinois State Fair race weekend is the highlight of our summer racing spectating. 4 races in 48 hours if you count the ARCA race Sunday afternoon on The Mile. That ARCA race is usually a good show, too.

We'll be heading to the Fairgrounds on Tuesday morning August 12th with the camper. We'll camp on the Fairgrounds 'till Monday morning after the State Fair closes on Sunday night. Gonna' spend a little time at the Fair but the bulk of the time will be spent on Lake Springfield for some R&R and maybe a little fishin' when we're not at the races.

Unforturnately, we have to miss Friday nights POWRi action at Lincoln. We ordered tickets to the grandstand concert on Friday night at the Fair. It never occurred to me at the time we ordered the tickets that it would interfere with our racing activities. Bone head move, I reckon!!

Definitely one of those weekends you circle on the calendar. Going to be a great weekend with USAC Silver Crown Cars Saturday, ARCA cars Sunday with Sportsman both days on the Mile, plus these great events. 4 HUGE events all REAL CLOSE together. Definitely nice.

Feel like a kid at Christmas counting the days down. Only 4 short days until this big weekend gets underway!

Beach House is a sponsor of the class when they run each time at the track. This will be a POWRi 600 winged show.

Hey Bob, jump in the car head East. It's just an easy 8 hours over to Springfield. We'd be glad to see you!!

4 races in less than 48 hours!

I bet you'd enjoy hangin' out on the lake with us, too.

Re: HUGE POWRi Doubleheader Aug 15-16 Lincoln/Macon

From Macon Speedway's site.

Lincoln Speedway kicks off full throttle weekend with POWRi Midgets, Outlaw Micros Friday

MACON, Ill. – A full throttle weekend roars into Lincoln Speedway Friday night when the POWRI Midgets and Outlaw Micros take center stage in a program that also includes racing in two stock car classes. The wildly popular POWRi series enjoys its appearances at the quarter-mile oval, and the show is part of speed carnival all weekend with racing also set for legendary Macon Speedway and historic Springfield Mile at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

POWRi cars show off their agility and power around the Lincoln oval. With the Tony Bettenhausen 100 for USAC Silver Crown cars racing at the Illinois State Fair Saturday afternoon, the POWRi series running double features at Macon Speedway Saturday night and the Central Illinois SuperChevyStores.com 100 for ARCA stock cars Sunday at the state fair, the big names in dirt track racing are expected to converge on Central Illinois for an all-star weekend.

Pro Late Models and Modifieds are also racing at Lincoln Speedway. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7.

On Saturday, the Tony Bettenhausen 100 takes the green flag in a historic race on the mile dirt track at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. USAC Silver Crown cars thunder down the straightaways and slide through the corners. Galesburg resident A.J. Fike goes for a three-peat on the Springfield Mile after a late pass last season. The biggest car count in years is expected for the USAC counts with more than 30 likely to arrive in the pits. Silver Crown practice starts at 9 a.m. with qualifying at 10:25 and the feature set at 2 p.m. Sportsman Nationals heat races are set to go at 11 a.m.

Macon Speedway hosts double features in both POWRi divisions after a rain halted a program earlier this season.

On Sunday, the Central Illinois SuperChevyStores.com 100 is the first time the ARCA Racing Series by Menards hits the dirt this season after making stops at Daytona, Talladega, Pocono and Michigan, among other legendary racing meccas. The 100-lapper will likely start more than 30 cars, and the race always brings drivers from varied backgrounds as they attempt to claim a win on the storied mile.

A year ago, Brennan Poole captured the win after Kelly Kovski and Fike were black-flagged for jumping a late restart. Kovski is a Springfield racer who was attempting a rare win by a hometown driver on the famed mile. NASCAR star Ken Schrader, a former race winner, will be going for another win. Practice starts at 9 a.m. with qualifying at 11:15 and the 100-lap race at 1:35 p.m. NASCAR star Ken Schrader, a former race winner, is back for more and ready to win again. The Sportsman Nationals will also race a feature at noon.

Tickets for Illinois State Fair events are on sale at the State Fair ticket office (217-782-1979) and Track Enterprises (217-764-3200). For each event, advance tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children 11 and under. Tickets sold on day of the race are $30 for adults and $10 for children 11 and under. Pit passes are sold race day only for $35. A two-day pass is $40. Infield tickets are sold race-day only for $20 for adults, including the $5 entry fee to the fair. Children 6-11 are $5, and children 5 and under are free.

POWRi in for a Three Day Weekend at Lincoln Speedway, Macon Speedway, and Angell Park Speedway
Wednesday, August 13th 2014

MILLSTADT, IL - For the first of three consecutive nights of racing, Lincoln Speedway is set to host the POWRi Midgets and Micros on August 15th. The Friday night race will be held in conjunction with the 2014 Illinois State Fair.

The event will mark the third time that the POWRi Midgets have visited the Lincoln, IL track this season. Previous 2014 midget feature winners at the ¼ mile dirt semi-banked oval have been Tanner Thorson at the June 6th Illinois SPEED Week event and Chett Gehrke at the July 11th event. The POWRi Micros have ventured to Lincoln Speedway only once so far this year during Illinois SPEED Week where Aaron Andruskevitch took home the micro feature win.

On Saturday, August 16th, POWRi is scheduled to visit Macon Speedway in Macon, IL for the 2014 Dana Godfrey Memorial. In addition to the excitement of being run in conjunction with the Illinois State Fair, fans will be treated to a double dose of action that night. In addition to a full regular show, the midgets will run a make-up feature in order to complete the portion of events that were rained out on April 26th. The micros will run their April 26th make-up feature on September 6th. For drivers who make it into both feature events, the double features will be a test of endurance as Macon Speedway is traditionally elbows up all night.

The Dana Godfrey Memorial is an annual POWRi event for both the midget and micro series. The event pays tribute to the late wife of John Godfrey. As a successful chassis builder and founder of Spike Chassis, Godfrey is a familiar face in the racing community who has dedicated his life to furthering the sport. Godfrey's wife, Dana, was instrumental in his success and helped shape the sport into what it is today.

For the final night of the weekend, the POWRi Midgets will travel to Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI for the fan-favorite Miller Lite Cornfest on Sunday, August 17th. The Miller Lite sponsored event will take place in conjunction with the annual Sweet Corn Festival hosted by the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce. The Sweet Corn Festival will commence on Thursday, August 14th and festival-goers will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities and entertainment throughout the weekend. Sunday night's race will be the Sweet Corn Festival's finale.

The Miller Lite Cornfest will be tri-sanctioned by POWRi, USAC, and BMARA. The 2014 Pepsi Nationals was the most recent event at which all three sanctioning bodies came together at Angell Park. Christopher Bell came out victorious at both nights of the event.
