Sprint cars return...
1 Attachment(s)
On August 1st, sprint cars return to Whitewater Valley Motor Speedway. This is the first time since 2008, since then there's been MANY improvements. Under new management as well. Looking forward to this event, hope to see a good turn out so we can see more of these races!

This is the BOSS series, my opinion, one of the best groups in the business, what a great group of people
|
Forgive my ignorance, but where is this track?
|
What improvements have been done to the track surface ??

That track used to have a lot of rocks in it, and something sticking out of the wall? If I remember right, wonder if any improvements were made on those issues???
|
Concession improvements, has been a rock picker on the track a lot this year. I grew up here, then left after 2008 after tom wieck didn't have the track, went back as track photographer, yes, the beginning if this year there was rocks, not anything like before. 2 weeks ago I only seen a couple rocks. But it's a dirt track, they aren't all going to be gone lol.. Also dug up turn 3&4 and put clay down. The footer is on the front stretch up on the wall, which can't really fix that unless you have some money backing you... This year is the best I've seen the track surface in a very long time, maybe best I've ever seen it.. As we all know, for a fact, this place used to be very VERY bad. Bill Wagner is putting his heart into this place.
|
SPD 37, the footer, and maybe remember the bars which were sticking up on top of the walls.. They were beat down that night in 08, they have been grinded off. Not an issue now.

Re: Sprint cars return...
Seen some great NW and Wing racing here back in the late 80s early 90s including a Frankie Kerr CRA midwest tour win.
They back em in. Also remember Robbie Stanley in the Stanley 44 house car running his own grove right on the wall untill it came in and then he'd start passing two cars a lap. Double Header BOSS Sprints Aug 1st Whitewater Aug 2nd Lawrenceburg |
Re: Sprint cars return...
Bill has done a lot to help this place out. I visited it on the 4th of July and i was impressed! Best track prep i have seen in years at any track. should be a great show, it's a fast little paperclip style track. My only piece of advice is to speed the show up a little. Left the track at 0330 on the 5th of July, but that was my only visit this year so i can not say it happens all the time. My hats off to Arron and Bill for giving me Sprint Car racing close to home.:6:

Two friends from Wisconsin and I will be there

Re: Sprint cars return...

Michael Fischesser, Bucky Beaver and BOSS Guru Aaron Fry and the 4 Amsoil Sprinter will be there tonight to promote for next week.
|
Brandon,
This is the first Sprint Car show since 2010. I ran there that night and so did Aaron. Miss seeing the All Stars run some great shows there in the late 80s/early 90s too! |
Re: Sprint cars return...
Is there room for a motorhome to park reasonably close and spend the night after the race?
|
Yes, you can stay at the track. Not sure if there's really a certain area, but yes you can stay there. Bill is working in a few things for a little "party" after the races.

Re: Sprint cars return...
It's nice to see improvements here. Have seen some great racing there as the track layout is different from all tracks I can think of. Keep it up, hope to see more sprints/midgets there in the future. :6:
|
So will there be any surprises on who shows up??
|
Thinking about hitting this race, one of the track I have not seen a race at. By looking at the pictures, it looks similar to North Vernon.
|
Its going to be a hell of a show.
Stopped by there tonight to talk to bill Wagner and he's very excited. Was working the track tonight and will continue to do so all week. I hadnt been back in a long time and went last week to see what I was walking into. Doesn't even seem like the same place. Bill Wagner has done a hell of a job along with everybody else at the track. Myself and AJ will be there as well recording our sprint car show after the evening and before the party. Will be hopefully having the feature winner and leaders in points on as our guests. Going to be a great night. Cannot wait. |

Re: Sprint cars return...
Are hot laps going to start at 7:30 pm? Is that kinda late for this?

Re: Sprint cars return...
A little more fun info for new fans attending their first BOSS show - Driver nicknames and maybe how they got them.
#2M - "Lightning" Logan Hupp - Logan got jolted by a lightning strike a week ago at Wayne County Speedway #3J - "Gentleman" Johnny Beaber - was dubbed this in a 1977 "Outlaw racing Pictorial" by Hungness Publishing #4 - "The Nati Nightmare" Michael Fischesser - from Cincinnati, Ohio #5 - "Honey Bear" Bob McMillin - owns a honey apiary and bottles honey #6RR - "Joltin" Joe Liguori - somebody fill me in on this one? I know Joe DiMaggio went by Joltin Joe #32M - "The Skydiver" - Derek Hastings - from his Ocala, FL flip when he went so high, he fell straight from the sky #57B - "The Evans City Earthmover" - Brandon Spithaler - from Evans City, PA and runs hard on the cushion moving the most dirt! #77 - "The Hustlin Hooiser" - Dustin Smith - who was the lone representative from Hoosier state in 2012 tour and won the title #82 - "The Magic Man" - Mike Miller - always just "seemed to appear from nowhere" up front during his first season with BOSS #91x - Aaron "Mid Air" Middaugh - who made the front page of the Cincinnati News Sports section with a flip caught in mid-air We are still working on nicknames for the others, but they have to earn them first. |
We are very excited to be having the BOSS series this Friday night. We do have primitive camping available free of charge.
$15 general admission adults $5 general admission kids 6-11 5 and under free $30 pit pass adults Draw ends and hit laps begin at 7:30 I want to make this as fun as possible for all involved. I am getting quite a few inquiries about camping. We also have a flat drag event Saturday, the following day which usually brings a few campers. If we have enough people looking at camping I will bring in a dj for Friday night after the races. All updates can be viewed on out Facebook page or on our website Www.whitewatervalleymotor speedway.com Hope to see everyone!!!! Thanks Bill Wagner. Now, off to water ;) |

Re: Sprint cars return...
What is your policy on coolers and such?
|
Re: Sprint cars return...
On another thread about BOSS set for Hoosier Invasion - someone posted coolers were allowed and you can carry in beer. I'm only posting what I saw there, it is not my track, I'm just the series promoter. Hope this helps. Thanks!!
|
There's track prep pics on the Facebook page, gonna be heavy and tacky!!
|
And Aaron you are right, you can bring coolers and beer.
|
I know Adam Cruea, Cody Gardener, Jarret Andretti, Dallas Hewitt all are headed that way
