Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
Hello everyone and thank you for your thoughts and prayers. As I write this Brent is getting an MRI done. They are still pretty sure it was a TIA stroke but his quick recovery over the last few hours have them wondering. When I got him to the hospital he was totally paralized on the left side and coudn't speak well. Today he is talking fine and using his left side close to normal. His doctors are in amazement. He is a strong man. He is a little upset that they won't let him go to Kokomo tonight. (smile) Once again, thank you for your prayers and thoughts. We love you all.

Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
Damn Brent. First, I get the message you were playing saturday night then wake this morning to find this.
We are pulling for you, so you keep pulling too. From the sounds of it, you are doing just that. Those darn doctors are always spoiling the fun it seems. I guess they only have our best interests in mind, just remember that. CYA soon! |
Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
Sounds like things are already improving so that's a good sign. :thumb Here's to a speedy recovery and we are thinking of you here in cheeseland. "Play that Funky music white boy". :wink

Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
If Brent is upset because he can't go to a race tonight, that is a good sign.
Get well soon, big guy.:thumb |
Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
I just spoke with Brent a few minutes ago. He's feeling much better, but tired and feeling a little beat-up. His speech still has a little room for improvement, but apparently a lot better than early this morning. His spirits are very good, all things considered, and he is pissed the neurologist won't let him out for Kokomo tonight:eek:
Thanks to Bob for bringing this news to everyones attention:respect: I'd echo the wish that everyone who knows Brent and Asha to keep them in your thoughts today and the next few. God knows the race tracks throughout the country would never be the same without our friend, a super fan, Tony Funk! |

Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
Once again, thank you to everyone. The MRI results came back and he did indeed have a mini stroke. The are keeping him overnight and running a couple more tests to make sure all is well. His prognosis is good for complete strength again on his left side. Thank you for all of your kind words. I have been keeping Brent posted. We love you guys. Sorry to have missed you Ty.

Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
Visited Funk and Asha before Kokomo this afternoon. When we asked him if he had his memory he said yes. I asked if he remembers sprint week and his response was, "Yeah, I can't wait for it!" :rolling:rolling After thinking for a moment, we all started cracking up!! He still has his great wit, that we all love, even going through a sucky situation! Hang in there Funk & Asha! See ya back at track soon!:checkered:

Oh boy, I can see it now: Cottage cheese, reduced fat milk and fruit juices at the race track. Cardio-crunches and fast-walking around the parking lot with little weights in hand. Wearing a kerchief in front of your mouth and nose for A-mains. And 12-ounce curls of O'Doul's....

Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
Hello again everyone and thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Brent is still in the hospital waiting for test results. They are pretty sure that his untreated sleep apnea was a cause also. We will be changing some eating and exercise habits for sure. What a wake-up call! Hopefully I will be able to take him home tonight or in the morning. Thanks again to everyone.
luv asha |

Re: Keep Brent Goodnight aka Tony Funk in you thoughts
Thank you to everyone for youre kind words and thoughts. The staff at St Joe Hospital was great. The sleep apnea seems to have played a large part in my having this stroke. The ER peoople told me they almost lost me a couple of times. Thankfully Asha got me to the hospital with in 10 minutes of when I began having symptoms, that and a great staff probably saved my life. I am home now and very sore and tired, but very happy to be home, since they told me Saturday night I could be looking at a 3 month stay to re learn to walk. obviously I am a very lucky person. Thanks again to everyone. My first race back should be Sunday at Kokomo. Thanks again, seee everyone soon.
