Re: WHo's at Anderson?
I figure there is a person or 2 from this site in the pits right now.
10:00 cars should be hitting the track for practice! I just hope Steel got a ride. |
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
I'm also interested in how many cars show up. Hopefully 30 plus!
|
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
I just talked to someone up there and they were getting ready to practice so I didnt get a lot of information, but MAYBE 20 cars with 3-4 focus cars as a rough number right now. Beast cars were not there yet
|
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
comeing off of last nights race, i'm sure teams are switching things out still.

Re: WHo's at Anderson?
I'm heading across town in 15 minutes or so to see qualifying. Well as long as its free like Little 500 qualifying. I'll post when I get back from the track.
|
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
crew's and drivers have just been called to a meeting there is about a total of 21 cars, at least one focus car. qualifying starts around 1 and top 16 are automatically locked in.
GO ADAM!!! |
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
I just got back from the track. They were just opening up qualifying at 1:30 PM which is about an hour later than posted. I counted 18 cars with a few that I recognized. Some Focus cars from the Wednesday nights shows.
|
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
Any idea on who the focus cars were that were there?
Thanks. |
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
I must say I'm a bit concerned about only 18 full midgets at the race. How many will be left running after 100, 200, 300, or 400 laps? Or am I just totally out in left field on this? IMO, I hate to make a 300 mile round trip to see only a few cars running at the end of the night.
On the plus side, the weather is looking pretty good. |
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
We can only hope that more will show. It is a shame with the great purse offered for an inaugeral event.
|
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
Any idea of when we'll know what the car quantity/quality will be? Like Seadog, we have a 300 mile trip PLUS a motel to consider vs. The 'Burg locally. Thanks.

I know there are more planning to show tomorrow but i'm not sure on how many more, i don't think many will run this whole thing so we'll see.
Dakoda Armstrong qualified 1st |
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
Here are the cars that I saw and recognized while I was at the speedway earlier. I couldn't stick around since I was on my way back to the office. They hadn't started qualifying until 1:30 PM so they were at least an hour behind schedule. I could hear them running earlier but as of right now it is quite. I will let you know more if and when I hear anything.
4-Alison MacLeod 7-Dakoda Armstrong 24-Tracy Hines 32-Dave Fuhrman 42-James Robertson 63-Rex Norris III |
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
Armstrong, Hines, Gordon, East, McCloud?, Shiff, Murgoitio, Rex Norris, Lugori (spelling?), Jeremy Warren. Those are the names I remember off hand. There were only a couple of focus cars there. Hines is 2nd quick with McCloud and a 42 in row 2 and then after them I believe its East and Murgoitio. Gordon was not all that quick, in fact I'm not sure he was top 10.

There are a couple more cars so far this morning, more to come according to the track but not sure how many more
|
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
It would be nice to know how many more cars are coming. I have motel rooms and am bringing two people that have never seen a pavement race. We might have to head to MT Lawn instead....

Any new news from Anderson????
How many cars? Did the change the race format? :dologob: |
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
Better rename this event as "The First, Last, and Only Midget 400".
|
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
21 cars on the grid. 200-300 fans in the stands. I'm not at the track but just talked to Honest Sam who is there.
Brent Elmore |
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
This is not looking to promising that we will see this event come back next year. Only 21 cars and that few people in the stands! Looks like Rick Dawson might be taking a bath on this one. Probably bad timing on the scheduling is what kep alot of the bigger USAC teams from competing with the Nebraska and Belleville swing coming up this week.

Re: WHo's at Anderson?
Thats too bad. It's a good idea, but I think this is a bad weekend to do it. To many other options for fans, and as pointed out, too close to other major midget races.
|
Re: WHo's at Anderson?
i know it was only 21 cars and only 9 finished but seriously i enjoyed the race and still thought they put on a good show!!!
good job guys! |

Re: WHo's at Anderson?
The leader from 214 to 300 was Alison Macleod in one of the blue #4 cars. The top three were the only ones in the same lap. Alison appeared to be better in the long run than the short run. Both Armstrong and Ehrgott got around her at the start of the last 100 laps (they had competition yellows at lap 150 and 300). She was reeling them in and then Tracy Hines hit the wall. Don't know why. On the restart, Bobby East got around her in an attempt to get another lap back and that was that.
I was not happy with the lack of cars or the fact that they made all tickets general admission after I spent time on the phone getting a reserved seat where I wanted it. However, I am glad I went. I found it entertaining and hope they have it again next year. The track announced that we should save the ticket stubs and they will give a $10 discount on the September 9 (?) midget race. I also appreciated the all-driver autograph session between hot laps and the start of the feature. As I am sure you all know, they do this for the Little 500 also. All in all, glad I was there (with a lot more than 200-300 people). Frank Daigh |

To bad I didn't know you were there. I would have stopped by and introduced myself and said hello. I also am glad that I went and I really enjoyed the evening. As I mentioned on another post, I hope this becomes a "special" event in the future like the Little 500. |

Actually, I think the top 4 were on the same lap. Hines hit the wall after a wheel (right front, I think) came off. |
