LPS Track!!

I'm not trying to get anyone fired up just saying what I've heard. I've been hearing the racers are getting tired of follow the leader black slick conditions. And ruining a set of tires a night which should not be happening this time of year or at all if a track was prepped right. I've been to many tracks in Indiana and none got to black slick conditions after the heat races theres obviously something or a step that's not being done. I think if something doesn't get fixed with the track we may start losing teams and drivers to other tracks. So let's hope Joe Spiker does something different this weekend!!! And I've been to every race at LPS this year the first couple races track conditions were great and fans the last couple races are not impressed with follow the leader style!!!

Speak for yourself . I was there and thought it was a real good race .:32::32:

Again not trying to get people all fired up just simply stating what I've heard from both sides of the perspective!!!

Its Joe Spikers Birthday, Could you come back tomorrow?:43::

kcarm92 5/14/14 6:51 PM

really what night has been follow the leader i draw like crap and start in the back of most heat races and have been able to make a transfer spot and almost all features have gone right down to the end if your talkin about sprint features maybe short has it figured out just sayin.would you rather have it heavy and rough because thats useally what happens if they water it to much

Re: LPS Track!!

It is pretty simple if you ask me. If you want cars in the pits then keep the track exactly like it has been, dry and slick. It allows for better passing and it's easier on equipment.
The hammer down, banging the cushion, heavy stuff is all great for the fans. But for the drivers that just means one lane, hard on equipment, and a rough night.
And I'm not just some fan that sits in the stands. I've been racing there this year and have really thought the track was great. There was one week it was a little overwatered, but I think that's just because the weather went to overcast about 4:30.
Drivers will support a track that is dry slick, and is consistently prepped the same each week. If they start overwatering it then I guarantee the cars start going other places. I for one cannot replace ball joints and body panels each week because of a rough track.
But thankfully LPS has been great this year. Keep up the great work LPS crew, and have a happy birthday Joe!

Dirtfan42 5/14/14 6:58 PM

Everyone is entitled to there opinions I don't think a heavy bang off the cushion type of track there talking about I think just one that doesn't get black slick after heat races. Again just simply posting what has been heard.

Kenny, maybe you should complain about the crappy pill draw LPs always has since everyone like to complain about things. :3:

Dirtfan42 5/14/14 7:17 PM

What's the point of this forum if you can't post anything with out getting people all fired up. By the way I had another username but forgot the password so I had to start another one. So maybe you shouldn't assume things. This is why I quit posting things on here the last time. What happened to people and there right to an opinion guess these days it doesn't exists. I've said it three time I wasn't trying to get things stirred up just simply saying what has been heard.

i kinda like the crappy pill draw thing :5: time trials are for special shows not weekly stuff. and no support classes :32:

Bshort36 5/14/14 8:25 PM

I think putnamville has been the best I've ever seen it in the 9 years I've been racing sprint cars!!! Don't change a thing spiker!!!

johnnythunderhead 5/14/14 8:35 PM

Re: LPS Track!!

I haven't been to putnamville this year so I don't know how the track conditions have been, but as track conditions go, personally I do not like ted Johnson dry slick, dusty tracks (if ya like the track like that then pave it so at least there ain't dust everywhere)

What a crappy first post! Just Kiddin Brady :9:

Dirtfan42 5/14/14 8:46 PM

Well the track has been like a pavement track last week it almost took rubber and last week it did take rubber!!! At least get the track where there's a little moisture somewhere. And of course Brady wants the track dry slick seems like if it's slick he's the one to beat but if it's heavy not so much!!!

If you have a problem with the track, say it and identify yourself. If somebody else has a problem with the track, then they should say so. Saying "I've heard" this or "what has been heard" about that is very much like one of those stories that dumps on someone by quoting anonymous sources. Then whining about people challenging what you say makes you look even worse and makes it even more likely that no one will take you seriously.

Jerry

P.S. Plus, it's unlikely that as long as you have posted under Herbie42 that you suddenly forgot your password.

I get it your point and agree with you. However it's not wise to post a thread about a track. It's like a ******** and religion thread. There are a bunch of silly people on this site that will go nuts. I'm very close to giving up on this silly forum because of a lot of people on here. If you want updates, use twitter like I do.

Dirtfan42 5/14/14 9:21 PM

That's why the fans come to see the three wide of side by side. Not follow the leader crap!! Slider agreed that's why I forgot my password and haven't been on here in a long time but thought it's raining I'm bored why not get back on. Well I can see nothing has changed!!

Must be doing something right since they have had the highest weekly car counts of any track in the state and one of the highest in the Midwest so far this year.

Hotshoe65s 5/14/14 9:36 PM

Dirtfan42:
You posted this thread stating your opinion. I haven't seen anyone personally attack you or what you said. I've seen other people reply with their opinion, just as you told yours. If you ask me that's a good discussion. Not everybody will agree with what you have to say, but you just have to view both sides and make your own judgement. That's what these forums are all about. People state their opinions and a lot of the time they aren't the same as your own. Doesn't mean the other people are terrible or the forum is terrible, it just means they have different opinions.

Carry on with the discussion Lol....

I like the moisture too! LPS has been heavy at least for the Heat Races, the times I have been there over the past 4 plus years. Saturday was a surprise for sure. I cut a tire after a bad draw in the Heat and was done. That is just luck, but I agree the track could get back to some heavy conditions and you can pass plenty when it's like that with no tire wear. I'll try it again when the Burg is off. Everyone have a good weekend!

Re: LPS Track!!

Hmmm... My age must be playing tricks on my memory, but I thought I saw Jon Stanbrough, Brady Short, Chad Boespflug and Jeff Bland put on a heck of a race up front with multiple passes, slide jobs going into the corners, repasses coming back out of the corners with side by side and sometimes three wide racing at points. And that was just at the front of the field. I was trying to watch some of the great racing back in the pack but it was hard to take my eyes off the front runners. That was just the sprint feature. I thought the racing in all the classes were equally exciting with cars running both the high lane and low groove.

I also remember Joe Spiker personally taking the time to come out to rework some really bad spots in the track in 3 & 4 as well as going into 1 to give the racers and fans a better surface.

As far as car count goes... I think the car count was 119 cars in the pits.

Me and my memory... what's an old guy gonna do? Any post I make I will be happy to sign my name to.

Tonight's Putnamville feature was a thriller!

Brady Short, Jon Stanbrough, Chad Boespflug, and Jeff Bland put on a great race up front.

Here is a short teaser.

The FULL feature is posted on Jackslash.com!

You Tube Video
Looks like ,from the video clip from jackslash, that it was a pretty good race to me. Sadly I don't get to go to the races often, and I work some crazy hours for sure. The track was black slick for sure, but watching a good race on a black slick track is more fun than working a 24hr shift. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, you shared yours, others shared theirs, and I shared mine. Hopefully I will get some time off and make the trip LPS soon. Black slick, heavy, fast smooth, heck even mud bog would be better than nothing. Imagine if all of us lived in Utah, or somewhere there was no fine dirt tracks you could go to. I feel blessed to live here in Indiana where racing is just a part of the landscape I grew up on, and guys like Joe Spiker, Dave Rudisell, Tom Helfrich, and others do their best to put on a great show...oh ya and the drivers too! Great race Brady Short, Jon Stanbrough, and Chad Boespflug!

Before creating a new account today, your last post was made on April 4th. You were complaining about LPS cancelling the season opener due to wet grounds.

Now you're complaining about LPS being too dry.

3 minutes after starting this thread you found your old username & password, logged in and replied to a different thread.

You've went back forth between old and new accounts all night.

Now, none of that info is really that important but I wanted to say thank you for making me laugh tonight.

Well I really don't know any of the main people involved in this conversation but I know Bill is the administrator and it looks like he caught someone with their pants down! I thought the whole thread was pretty funny until I got to the administrator's comment and then it went immediately to hilarious!
That is what administrators are for. Great job Bill!

Re: LPS Track!!

I figured it out when he posted as Wideopen 42 on this thread then wide open 24 on another but didn't say anything.

As to his point, I do know there are many not posting much due to taking things as personal attacks rather than differing views. People need to sit back, re-read what someone said and try to interpret the meaning before taking it personal

Honestly, Im not a big slicky track fan myself but one of the best races i've seen at LPS was on about the slickest, slowest tracks they ever had. Sprintweek about three years ago when Stanbrough started fourth, dropped to eighth and grabbed the win on the last lap. Up till that point it was Shu on the bottom in the 4 and I can't remember on top pretty much side by side. One catfishin, the other banging the cushion. Stanbrough split em. Shu Broke but Jon still came from deep in very little time.

My thing about the track condition is like this I have no clue how to prepare a track and Kudos to anybody that does. Because even if it doesn't turn out great everytime they are still giving it there all and trying to do a good job. Plus the drivers just got to learn how to adapt and over come and the person who does that the best usually win's.

Hoosier Fan beat me on the draw ( not pill draw). I have limited my race chasing to a few select pavement races and LPS.... Why LPS? 1) highest weekly car count in sprint division 2) most comfortable seating ( the sun setting behind you and the shade for the evening is great) 3) track prep under new promoter

Would give a shout out to Dave at L'burg who also does a great job, just LPS is closer for me.

Yeah any time there is a cushion that builds they either bring out the grader or run the push trucks around to knock it down. Some don't know how good they have it.

I have been to 11 shows this year and the best races, ones to remember, have all been at LPS. All tracks are too slick for my taste, I like CA tacky, but it's Indiana and that is the way they seem to turn out here. LPS is doing just fine.
