USAC sprints at Eagle
How many cars can we expect at Eagle and McCool Junction May 2nd and 3rd?
|
Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
As many as show up! Thats how many will be there!! :)
|
Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
It will be early in the season so USAC should be at their strongest ( many still have a shot at the top points positions), they should bring 12-14 cars, so if you have 20 local cars it will make for a nice field!

Now why would you want to make things personal? That was an honest response to a question! At no time have I ever made any personal comments about you? If I gave 2 cents what you think I would make a derogatory comment...but...since I do not,:22:I will move on.

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
early in the year I would guess 18 to 20. Considering the Outlaws had 16 at Perris I would say that isn't too bad. They had over 20 in Florida, and there was only one FL car

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
If some of the WAR boys from Missouri and Heartland guys from Rock Rapids, IA show up, I think we could see a decent field. Can't wait---it's been a long winter up here in Minnesota. See you in Nebraska.

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
I will be taking my Grandson for his 16th birthday. He has never been to a non wing race. Needless to say we are both looking forward to this. :6:

Your grandson will love it I took my two boys to watch a cra race at eagle when they were still doing the eastern swing after seeing non wing spirit cars they didn't want to watch wings again

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
The way the weather is, I'd toss a snow shovel in the car just in case.

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
Getting closer. :) Just thought I would throw this out there, if anybody making the trip needs some help we would be happy to lend a hand to any team that is short crew members.

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
Just a few days away now and looking forward to the USAC guys heading West, weather looks good for both nights at Eagle and McCool Junction. Really hoping for more than 20 cars but not matter what we'll still get the best of the traditional sprint car world!

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
Leaving at 4:00 AM Friday morning from the Denver Colorado area for the two races (Eagle & McCool). Three of us fans will pick up or buddy who lives in Lincoln and head to the track. Can't wait!!! Several years ago the SCRA non wingers put on a good show at Eagle . This should be just as good if not better. Great track. Jim Bredenberg

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
I am hoping for a good car count, but I would not count on many WAR guys making the trip. They will be racing at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night with the ASCS Warrior region and the POWRi midgets. The POWRi midgets will be at Valley Speedway (Kansas City) on Friday night as well.

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
Do any of you locals know what the whereabouts are this Fri for Ballou, the Modern Day Cowboy, Coons, and Cottle? I would think that Ballou & Clayton might head west (especially Clayton, given the cash in his pocket from last Sat, and that it's another gas it up bullring) -- but not sure about Coons and Cottle.

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
As far as car count, I wouldn't expect much. They are also running winged 360's on the card so I'm sure that's
what all the locals will run. You might see Don Droud jr. and 2 or 3 others but that's about it. Hopefully USAC will bring a strong contingent so it won't matter! |

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
Awful lot of badmouthing for 13 teams who spent the 5 grand just to get their cars there, hotels, pit passes. Learys rig blew up and he still made it somehow.
Its always iffy going into territory your not established. I didn't see any complaining when full fields and consis were run for two races in FL. I agree however. The prestige of USAC is to run the best and get a big check and trophy at the end of the year. YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE END OF THE YEAR FIRST and if it bankrupts you to do so. Even though there are teams that can afford to run the series. Its awful tough to tow a thousand miles and run when there's 2000 and 5000 to win races within 200 miles of Indy. and 1400 in their back yards. IDK, USAC should seek out some more corporate sponsors and at least boost purses for long haul shows. Seems like they get to a point they can't get past and it grows and shrinks accordingly. I still remember when it was much worse and only 7 teams pretty much followed it and they even ran winged shows to draw some cars. (Lord don't let that happen again :) ) Start a eight- ten race USAC Midwest, In three years you'll have 30car fields with the National teams comin out. |

Re: USAC sprints at Eagle
Per Usacracing.com
Eagle, Nebraska…….For the 49th time in his illustrious career, Dave Darland drove his way to AMSOIL National Sprint Car victory lane in Friday’s “Rumble in the Bullring” at Eagle Raceway. The Lincoln, Indiana veteran became the first repeat winner of the season. Bret Mellenberndt got the jump from outside the front-row, but polesitter Bryan Clauson snuck under him to lead the opening lap. The show early on, however, was Justin Grant, who started seventh but immediately jumped up above the cushion and made his way to the front. After rocketing off turn-two on lap five, he rode the cushion to the lead at the line. After a short red flag for Cody Brewer, a lap-14 restart gave Darland the opportunity he needed to attack Grant. After getting a good run down the fronstretch, Darland dove down underneath Grant into turn-one and came away with the lead. Grant did not give up, as he ran Darland back down with just a few laps remaining but bobbled on the turn-three cushion, allowing Darland to gain some breathing room and cruise to the win in the Phillips Motorsports – Racer’s Advantage Store #71P DRC/Foxco. “Justin was really sailing around the top, but it was pretty choppy especially into one. I was just waiting to take advantage of that if I could. We finally got that restart and I had such a good run, I was able to slide him into there. It worked out that we got that opportunity and could get by him and to the lead when we did,” Darland said. Grant repelled late challenges of Brady Bacon to retain the second spot in the Mark Hery Racing – Dick’s Paint & Body #40 DRC/Claxton. “I really like this track, but not the result. (Car owner) Mark (Hery) and I talked and thought it looked like Kokomo on the nights we would go up above the cushion. We freed it up a lot and tried to do something spectacular. It was working for a while. I should have slid myself on that restart, especially with Dave behind me, but I hadn’t even gone anywhere but the top through that end. Dave is good and snuck under us. I got my rhythm back late and we were a little better, but there wasn’t much of anywhere to go,” Grant said. Bacon was another one on the move in the feature, climbing from tenth to a podium finish in the Hoffman Auto Racing – Mean Green #69 Triple X/Stanton Mopar. “It’s good to be good at the end of the night, but we have a few little tweaks to make to be sure we’re not buried so deep after qualifying. Tonight was a great recovery. The car was great both high and low. Once we got to Justin, I almost got him on the bottom a couple times and tried to slip up on him a little and he was able to use his momentum to get back past us,” Bacon said. Fast qualifier Tracy Hines finished fourth in The Carolina Nut Company – Hansen’s Welding #4 DRC/Stanton Chevy and Clauson held on for fifth and continues to lead the series standings in the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing – Chevy Perofrmance #20 Beast/Kistler.
