Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
So far from what I see the weather is looking good also. Should be a great weekend. Starting to feel like the kid in the Disney commercial. I'm to excited to sleep! :-)
|
Thinking of making my first ever trip to Kokomo this weekend.. Looks like I should make the 3 hour trip from Ohio with this field of drivers.

Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
We are making our first trip to Kokomo also, tried to make Holiday Inn reservations for Fri. & Sat. nights & Fri. is booked so we thought about pitching a tent, we did get a room Sat. night & there was only 4 left for that night. If we do throw a tent are we allowed a cooler with food & drink? Thanks:32:

Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
Cant take anything through the gates into the track, but camping is free in the lot. Out by the big grain barn in the grass lot is a popular place for tents, campers, and RV's.
|
Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
So, is the lot outside of the gate? This is my first trip to this track. The way I read their rules no cooler's on the property.:11:
|
Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
Just no coolers through the gate to the grandstands. We're getting the camper ready tomorrow night. Looks like great weather for a great show!!!

Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
You cant take anything into the track its self..I think it would be okay to have a cooler at you car or your tent for that matter..but as for taking anything in you can't do that. Hope you enjoy your first trip to Kokomo..Its a bad a$$ track and should be a great show!

What everyone else said about the coolers. I think the concessions are reasonably priced for the most part. I usually get a pork chop sandwich and a drink or 2 when I am there. There are a bunch of motels in Kokomo,so you can always check with others to see what the availability is. Others can chime in on where they stay etc,and there are posters here from Kokomo as well, that can tell you better on whats what in town. Good thing you saw the light, and decided to come to Kokomo! |
Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
Luckybuc wont be the only one camping out. My brother and I plan to. As as will many more I'm betting.
The only problem I foresee is finding down time during an all open wheel show to head to the parking lot cooler for a beer or 3. See you there! |
Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
I'm looking forward to spending my first race trip of 2014 by sleeping on the floor of the van!

Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
they put on some good racing and provide a well maintained track, but the EL cheapos won't even let ya BRING IN A BAG A PEANUTS, NOT TO MENTION YER OWN PICKLES N ONIONS
|
Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
Everyone complains about not being able to carry things in there all the time. Everything there is reasonably priced and if they let people bring things in, then it hurts the track which will hurt all of us fans because they won't have money to put into the facility. They always upgrade it and make it better so I'm ok with spending an extra 15 bucks for good and water. You can always go out and drink or eat in the lots

Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
The field looks great. I just wish that they would run sprint cars with them. With that great line up you will see a great show but just think what a show that if you you would also ad sprint card with that field. Have a great week end .

Just found out that another east coast racer, Kyle Lick, will be coming west this weekend. Kyle picked up two victories in his first year in a midget, last year running with ARDC

Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
lets git ready to RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!:23: by no means not knockin the racing, but sure would be nice to have some fan friendly grandstands to sit in, its all but impossible to climb those uneven rickety things with no handrail supports and I can't even bring my peanuts in?

Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
Johnny thunderhead,I do not post on here often but it seems you always seem to find something to ***** about.I usually hit 30 -40 races a year in Indiana. The grandstands at Kokomo are as comfortable as any stands at any other track in Indiana. Even have wheel chair access. The concessions are reasonably priced. If you don't have anything good to say to help our tracks attract more fans then maybe silence is a better option sometimes. I Will be there. Will you? Have watched the o'conners take a track that was close to closing and turn it into a first class must see track, I have been going there since 1966, so if I have to pay for my food and drinks to support them,I will. They make some kind of improvement every year to the place. Reinvesting so that the track will survive for years to come. Enough of my rant. Lets go racing... Don

If you are looking for rooms you might try Logansport or Peru as they are not that far away.

Re: From Kokomo Speedway Facebook Page: Preliminary Entry Li
you bet your ass i'll be there plowboy, I've been lobbying for midgets ever since I found this cite, and I have plenty of good things to say, this is a good track and is generally well prepped (which is the most important part of a racing facility imho), and i'll survive without my peanuts and I will stumble as far up those beat up old bleachers as I can and I will get caught up in some great racing/ love me some midget racing, and I do not appreciate anyone telling me to be quiet, if I have something to say I will say it/ have you never heard of constructive criticism? do you think we'd be seeing midget racing like this if fans didn't request it? so enjoy the racing and let me do likewise:34: my biggest complaint is the lack of hand railings, I did some sheet time last winter and my legs don't work so well ever since so I damn near need to pull myself up the stairs
