Mini Sprints at Duquoin
The Flyer is out, everybody is talking about it, What rules will they race under??? Time is running out and February 2014 will be here much too soon for us people that are running at what seems like light speed. As you kids get older you will know what I am talking about.
A. ILSS standard rules? B. ILSS rules altered like in their races before? C. Tulsa Shoot out rules? D. AMSA rules like the last time when we raced on the mini Mile.? E. The first ever race run under the New National Mega Race Rules? The rules chosen is important so that racer's have time to prep for the race. Will the race try to exclude some racers leaving the race less competitive or will they attempt to be inclusive and get the largest turn out possible with the most competitive racing? That is the big question right now. How do the racers at large feel about their options. I am also very aware that the people with the money are the ones that should be calling the shots. This is just one little way to get our finger on the pulse of the racers, and "Indiana Open Wheel" seems to have the majority of the Mini Sprint racers as readers. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
Speaking strictly for myself...
I would like to see an all-inclusive approach, since the car I chose to purchase early this year (before AMSA came out with their 1000cc rules package) is now only legal to run under "Midget Lite" (Montpelier, STORM, IMRA) rules packages. I'm OK with that since I have no intention of running with a wing anyway but it would be nice to know if I can consider running Du Quoin; maybe that would be incentive enough to get out in that cold garage and finish up those last-minute details in advance of MMS's opening night... |
Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
should be modified ILSS rules since its the Archdale Race i think roger told me but i cant remember

Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
Is anybody going to Duquoin this weekend? I am thinking about it, should be a very good race even without the 1000cc midgets racing there this time. I will probably be hanging around the 37 cars of AJ Felker.

Due to it not being a weekly ILSS show, I think it was already predetermined that this was going to be open for any 1200 upright chain drive car. J Jones and Wayne Davis, go ahead and get those cars ready.

Wow I just did a Google search of Du quoin. That big track is sure big, the mini is located in the building right across from the big track. The big track makes that building sure look really little.
The big question is what do they use the track just a little further west on US 51 for? Honest Dad himself:6::6: |

For some reason I tend to nod off and sleep half way through most of them NASCAR or come to think of it INDY races. Dave Darland is going to go down and run an ARCA race at Daytona this winter. Sure hope he takes a good book with him to help him pass the time during the race.:3:;):3: It would sure be GREAT if some of us mini Sprinters could send Dave a little money to help support his efforts. Wanting to emulate Guys like Dave is probably the reason many of us are racing these things today. Think we got expense? You ain't seen nothen until you try to race one of them cars. The tire bill would bust me.:6::6::6::6: Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
Yeah, I know Dad, I'm just bein' cheeky.
I'm planning on going this weekend too if the weather doesn't get TOO bad; at least I just put some new Wranglers on the Sonoma, which will help in the traction department. I went last year for the first time and it was one of the best Midget shows I've ever seen. I lost count of the slide jobs in the heats and the feature, and there were 3 and 4 car fights for position all the way through the field. The funniest thing was there was a fight on the front straight after the Main and Tony wasn't even involved. |
Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
Yeh
I think Tony being an old man in his dotage might just be mellowing out a tad bit. I went out and charged the batteries up in the old Jitney, just in case he wanted to race, but I don't think he wants any part of me.:31: Guess I'll just have to be satisfied with giving "DEMOS" ever so often.:D Honest Dad himself:6::6: |

I'm not finding the flyer. Anybody have a link? Thanks!

Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
The volts are in. The only thing we can tell for sure is IOW readers unlike their representatives in DC do not vote on something they have not read yet. The National rules have not been published, I would bet its voters had knowledge of its text and is the reason for their votes.I can also tell that the IOW readers want their rules inclusive to all racers the AMSA rules, ILSS rules changed for their big races and the one vote for run what you brung when added to the Tulsa rules would have represented 60 percent of the voters.
So I guess we could say the vote is still out, we will have to try this when the guys get their rules in print. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |

I hit a patch of ice walking down from the garage and tore my rotator cuff this morning so I guess you guys are in luck because this pecking hurts like heLL. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
shootout rules and open ILSS rules are basically the same if not identical

Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
You sure you didn't do it from one of your many wheelstands in that scooter!! Get well maybe hope to see you in Febuary at DuQuoin.

Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
Closed your poll pretty quick there DAD. Still might end up the same but maybe not after the rules package comes out that was generated in Terre Haute. Let the reps take it to their respective people and let the entire region decide....not just your 25.

I sorta thought this was an opinion poll on what everybody felt the rules should be for the non-wing show at DuQuoin anyway, not neccessarily a referendum on the proposed "National" rules.
I do agree, though, that it's tough to have an opinion on something that hasn't been made public yet; not that it's stopped anybody on this site before... ;) |
Re: Mini Sprints at Duquoin
Link to the flyer? Anyone? Thanks.
