Every body should go at least once just to say yeh we went there. Good luck. Maybe Jerry could get a grudge race up between us and them Eco-tec cars of Emmett's. That would be neat. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Re: Shootout
Anybody know how picky they are with tech? I'd flunk this rule, or I might consider going...
11.Must have stock (working) charging system. No cut out allowed. |

You could run a lot longer and faster with an alternator, I wouldn't race without one. I lost a race one time because they had one of them 20 lap yellow flags, we were leading at the time of the yellow, the flag woman dropped the green flag and our car fell on its face, end of story. Re: Shootout
The alternator was already off the motor when I bought the car, so...
If I get semi-serious about making the tow I'll give Jerry a call, just wondered what anyone's experience had been with the procedures down there. |

Inspection would be the last of my concerns, they need car count, and are pretty good people. If any body would have been DQ'd at the time it would have been us because or left nerf is too wide when we move the tire all the way in, we did check before we went out there. If you can find time and money and I were you I would go, you will have a ball. If somebody would find the money for us we would go.:D:9:;) Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Re: Shootout
I have seen micros roll across the scales down there with nobody even looking at the readout and go right thru...I would be amazed if anything beyond looking at a RR compound and a trip across the scales for the top 3 happens...at least thats how they roll with the micros... with them bringing in Jerry to help with the uprights there may be a bit more tech on that class.

Re: Shootout
Did it twice, great experience but when you add everything up you're turning some pretty expensive laps.

You would probably pay twice that lap price to do it again. Come to it think of it with inflation factored in I had better say 20 times that price. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Re: Shootout
How many mini-sprints and parts could you get in a 53 foot trailer if you took off the tail and rear bumper and hauled them sideways?
The biggest expense is that 900 to 1000 miles of hauling a trailer. If you could get a central place to drop your hauler, park it for a week and drive the family car out and know that you stuff would be in Tulsa waiting for you. I bet could cut the race expense in half. That is what them darned Washington state people did. I think in fact some of them flew out and rented cars. Just trying to think out of the box. Been a long time since anyone even tried to put me in a box. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |

There is a heck of a lot of down time for the mini sprint class. It would have been a more worthwhile trip if they were able to run wing and non-wing like the 600s get to do. |

Went there 2 years ago and I agree WAY to much down time for just a lightning sprint...2 sets hot laps day 1...heat race day 2...heat race day 3...made the show so no LCQ race day 4 morning...feature that night...then pack up....long week for little....but if you have not done it it is very much needs to be a "BUCKET LIST" idem.... |

Bet if we showed up with 200 or 250 cars the cars would get more track time, but not each particular team. When you have so many cars to go through and so many classes to run no one is going to get a lot of track time. Unlike You guys Those guys with them little cars got it all figured out. Even though they did not get on the race track any more than you guys, they knew how to entertain themselves. They just sit back in their pits and play with there little race cars. Bet they blew up more motors in the pits than they did on the race track. I can still remember the QMA nationals of old, kinda of the same thing, I can still remember those guys in their "BOX STOCKERS" Holding the gas all thew way down for it seemed like an eternity and screwing that little screw on the carburetor looking for that last little rev before the darned thing blew up. The experience was well worth it, It has been more than 50 years now but I can still look back and say that was neat. We met a lot of very interesting and good people along the way. If you got the time, If you got the money, do it you won't be disappointed. You might learn something. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Re: Shootout
will be there again this year. I have been waiting all year for this. Should be atleast 5-6 car coming from the illinois wisconsin area. I also wish we could run wing and non wing.
