Walkup news
I see Bruce Walkup in the news. Wonder if he is still at the Don Smith bank in Sullivan?

Re: Walkup news
When I first became aquainted with Bruce, ouside of racing, he was a Vice President, I think, at the German American bank in Jasper, I had wondered how he got a Bank for a sponsor, then it all came together. He was very helpful with go-karting in the area, if we needed a place to have a meeting, all we had to do was call, we even had our banquets there. Bob

Sounds like Bruce is flipping a sprinter without a roll cage on this deal.

The Indianapolis Star didn't waste any firepower.

Re: Walkup news
I just caught his name the other night, on the news, didn't catch any of the other stuff, til now, seems like a lot of stuff can be traced back to ********, then of course there are a lot of thin skinned folks out there these days, man can't hardly get the mail out of his mailbox anymore, without offending someone. Re: Walkup news
It's a different world out there today. In my company the department where I work includes two women and two people of color including my supervisor. Some of my customers (in other departments) that I interact with are native of Great Britain, Puerto Rico, India and Cameroon (which I had to look up on the map). ;) I love my job and the people I work with are great. I'm no prude. I will listen to a dirty joke. Unless I'm 100% sure I don't open my personal emails at work and I never send them around the company. My ongoing study of the female human form is alive and well but not at work. I'm not a goody-two-shoes, it's just what I need to do because I've been on the unemployment line and it isn't fun.
I hope everything works out with Bruce. I go back to the time he was an unknown at the '67 Hoosier Hundred and was beating the best in the business for a good portion of that race. |

He also owned a Chevrolet dealership in Sullivan, IN. I remember Bill Donella interviewing Bruce before the USAC sprint feature one Sunday afternoon. This was around 1977 and the car business was having its' ups and downs. Bill asked Bruce how the car business was at his dealership. Bruce replied, "Well, Bill, cars are like a**holes; everybody has one!" |
