Even though, I won't be there, I like the 5 pm eat time! Most banquets don't want you to eat until 7 or 8! That's crazy! Have a great time and a great 2014!

Something for the Younger racers to consider, the MMSA races both Wing and Non Wing, providing the opportunity to gain experience in both as they decide which class to continue as they move up.

Attend the banquet and get some first hand information from some very accomplished Racers, The previous six MMSA champions combined, have over 100 years experience, one of the reasons they are Champions. They will all be in attendance.

The Lightning / mini sprint division is a great form of racing for the young racer looking to move up in open wheel racing, or for the older racer looking for more competetion. This class is very affordable. The MMSA offers both Wing and non wing open wheel racing, Great for the young racer who is still trying to decide which form of racing they want to pursue. MMSA will be racing mostly in southern Indiana at Tracks like Brownstown Speedway, Bloomington Speedway, Lawrenceburg speedway, Charlestown, and some local fair grounds tracks. If you would like to learn more about Mini sprints and the MMSA, We invite you to attend the MMSA awards banquet to talk with current and former Champions about this division. There are numerous cars for sale at great affordable starting prices.
Check out the Mini sprints classified section on this web site. Also racing junk and other web sites.

My son Nathan started racing Go Karts at the age of 9 and then began his mini sprint racing at the age of 12, Now he is racing UMP dirt modifieds at the age of 19.

I love this division so much that I kept 1 mini sprint and have former USAC Regional champion from Texas Beau Binder piloting our car. Driver of the 71B Mensendiek Auction Service and Real Estate, Reppert Auction school, OSR racing engines, Engler machine, DC chassis dyno, Keith Kunz motorsports, K&N filters, Kramers kitchen, Arts cleaners, www.auctionsandrealestate.com Mini spint.

I just got off the phone with Bill May. He gave me the go ahead to bring my demo motor to the banquet. With it I can hopefully demonstrate the use of test plugs for internal inspection, My new design on a bore checker, and if I have time maybe a cam checker. With these devices we should be able to tec motors without dropping the oil pan and engine covers. We hopefully can speed up tec as well as keep out a lot of unwanted dirt.

I am still working out a deal to slow some of the faster drivers down.:D;) We are currently talking with drag racers about maybe using the idea of {bracket racing}:5:

Bill

It sure is nice to know that I have such profound effect on so many people. It has only taken 66 years to reach this stage of perfection.:)

Oh well, guess I'll cut bate:39:

Bill

Got to go home tonight and finish up on the demo motor. It should be pretty interesting. Should give the casual racer a better understanding how all these parts relate to one another and how easy these things should be to tec if everyone decides they want stock internals.

Re: MMSA 2013 awards Banquet

Last thing I want is to have to drill, weld or tap a hole in my motor for a plug. These motors are pretty efficient on proper air fuel ratio. Any addition plugs are a great place for air leaks to develop which will turn these air pumps we call motors in to oil pumps which will pump all the oil out of your motor. Or lean them out and make them melt down. Both making it very bad on longevity of a motor.

Good luck with the banquet / meeting, wish I was a little closer to attend.

Wish you were here. Some of this stuff is really simple and I don't see any way it could harm a motor, but it would allow for a stock internal class without TOO many racers B1tchen.

Well Andy?

Would it be possible to tec my old motor for stock components without removing the oil pan, side cover and valve cover.

We can check for cylinder bore for oversize very quickly with the "Swing-blade Go-no-Go Gauge", the transmission for altered gears, non stock pistons, non stock valves with the bore scope and even valve lift without pulling anything off the motor or draining any fluid. A ten minute tec at most. We can check the head thickness also, but with the visual of the internal relation of valve to piston clearances with my cut away head one would consider that to be a non starter. To build any significant compression the piston crown has to be raised. This is a very easy check with just the bore scope

A picture is worth a 1000 hits on IOW.

If we are serious about stock motors internals, we could just give the racer the choice of removing the side covers, oil pan and valve cover or they could install a couple of Honest Dads......" Honest to God"..... inspection plug and cam lift checker.

The valve lift checker requires the valve cover to be removed one time to install it. Volumetric efficiency is key on these motor. The cut away demonstrates that unlike old school push rod motors we can't change camshaft duration without valve to piston interference. The only way to make the cam more efficient is more lift and or bigger valves which require special pistons. If the lift is stock the cam is probably stock. I bought a factory race cam once. Best I can figure it was a stock cam that failed inspection. Same lift and they said a few more degrees duration, that I never could find even by making a cam profile graph of both stock and factory race cam.

The inspection plug could be installed on the motor with the aide of a vacuum cleaner adapter and perhaps applying about 5 psi positive air pres to the crankcase during the drilling and tapping process to cause ejection of the aluminum chips. If an aluminum chip does get into the oil it would not damage the oil pump and the filter would stop it from going any further. Has anyone ever cut an oil filter in two, that is an education in itself. How did that stuff get in there? Through the oil pump of course!

The transmission inspection plug is already there on most of the newer motors, it is called the speedometer sensor.

Nothing to fear but an old racers idea of KISS.
