Just a few days away from the Montpelier Midget Finale. It should be a great race with a great points battle between Billy Wease and Blake Edwards who are currently tied in points.
I've received several questions in regards to the class. Mini-Sprints, Focus, and Echotech cars are legal to race in this class. You receive an unlimited weight break along with additional 2" of rim width. Their is NOT a seperate (lower) payout for these cars. We pay you as if you are a full production Midget. Also, fans and teams please consider supporting the Indiana Midget series this weekend. Great fan and car turnout helps me to set up our off-season plans and the direction we can take the series in the future. |
Liguori Racing will have American Racer Midget tires available for sale at our trailer Saturday...

I am planning to attend this week as I really enjoyed the program and facility a couple weeks ago when I was there. Fun race track and all the racers seemed to like it as well.

Jim Jones Motorsports is thrashing to get the #97 Doemelt/Bailey/Leader's Edge/Spike-GSXR1127 Montpelier Midget buttoned up for its' long-awaited maiden voyage this Saturday, in preparation for a full-season campaign next year. If his effort to get out on the track is successful, the 61-year-old Jones will turn his first-ever laps in competition after several years crewing, wheel packing and hotlapping other people's TQ's at his hometown track at Ventura, California and the legendary Ascot Park, as well as completing the Intermediate course at Corey Kruseman's Sprint Car School. The transplanted Californian now makes his home within walking distance of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and credits his Able-Bodied Pit Doll, wife Adrienne (AJ) Jones for giving him the physical and moral support he needed to finally realize a life-long dream. Jim would also like to thank the following for advice, encouragement, expertise and materials that are all finally coming together this weekend:
Patrick Mead, Greg Watson, Rob Winks, Joe & Linsey Ligouri, Leader's Edge, Speedpartz, Bailey Chassis, Spike Chassis, Hyper Racing, TQ Fiberglass, Saldana Racing Products, SET Racing and Earl's Indy. |
What's the status, Jim?

Clean up the wiring harness, mount the spark box, plumb & bleed the brakes, put on the chain, shocks, air cleaner, cage nets. Set her on the ground, set the ride heights & weights. Fill her with oil and a splash of fuel. Climb in, main power on, hit the button, watch for oil pressure, turn on the fuel (one Mississippi, two Mississippi), light the fire... Taking a vacation day tomorrow to finish the punch list. Wish me luck! |
Looking good. Love the scallops

I hear ya.... Started pulling mine all the way down to get her ready for next year. After losing my engine earlier this year, fund raising and time budgets just didn't like me this year... Lol just workin' on the chain gang for next year.

Re: Montpelier Speedway To Host MIDGET Finale Sat., Sept 28
Well, the midnight oil burnt out before all of the problems were solved, but the Eagledale Flyer #97 will be ready for opening night next year for sure. Is Old Credit as exciting as Young Money? Stay tuned...:44:

Re: Montpelier Speedway To Host MIDGET Finale Sat., Sept 28
A bmain was lined up and we ran 1 lap to lock in those cars..in all honesty it was only 5 because the 10b had already made the show, but there was a driver swap as Stratton Briggs jumped into the car..Running 1 lap and locking meant no one else could jump in..thats why it was done the way it was..

Congratulations to Blake Edwards on winning the A Main feature and securing the Montpelier Midget Track Championship. It was a very hard fought battle between Blake and Billy Wease throughout the entire feature. It was everything you wanted to see in a race with a championship on the line.
We sincerely appreciate all of the different car owners, drivers, fans, and media who supported the series this season. We have learned a lot about sanctioning Midget races, and we want to continue to grow the series and track. We will have a survey out aimed specifically toward Midget owners and drivers in a few weeks to survey opinions and ideas for the future of the series next season. We will look at everything from rules, tire rules, scheduling, etc This is YOUR series and we want to continue to keep it growing while maintaining the support and loyalty we have gained from the Midget community the past couple of seasons. Thanks again for supporting our family owned track and putting on great Midget racing for our fans |
Re: Montpelier Speedway To Host MIDGET Finale Sat., Sept 28
A comment from a fan but I sincerely hope that you continue racing midgets at Montpelier. The shows were excellent and the drivers put on quite a show. The speedway ownership took a gamble to try running midgets and from this fans perspective, it has become successful.
I hope that you can realize more success starting with 2014. We really enjoyed the modified racing as well and that says alot. I am not a big modified fan normally but your track seems to be a great venue that provides the modifieds a place to put on a great show. Looking forward to hearing about the 2014 season at Montpelier. Keep up the good work.:6: |
Re: Montpelier Speedway To Host MIDGET Finale Sat., Sept 28
The 10 race schedule seems to be just right. Add a national midget show next year (Powri/USAC) and that should make a nice open wheel portion of the schedule. There are other things that I would like to see also, but that's for another discussion.
